This, Cyberpunk 2077 and Metroid Prime 4 were the last 3 games I could preorder before my GCU expired, so I’m almost certainly getting it, though my expectations are fairly low.

From announcing the game years before having anything to show, to creating smooth brain looking versions of the heroes, to demoing gameplay that looks adequate at best, they've really done themselves no favors. Their last delay (from May to September) coupled with Covid has put their PR and release smack in the middle of new console announcements, so I think they're just getting buried at the moment.
Still, barring exceptionally poor reviews, I'm probably on the PC version day one.

Well, this sucks:
I was going to get this on Xbox because two of the people I'd be most likely to play this with online are Xbox-only. But even though I have a PS4 and will be getting a PS5 at launch, this makes me just not want to get it at all.

I got an email from BB (where I pre-ordered) that there is a beta going on this month. PS4 one week (7th) and Xbox the following week (14th). Perfect. Test it out before I decide to buy it or not.

This could be a paid dlc for Xbox couldn’t it? I know owned by Sony or used to or something, but can’t it be down the line and just exclusive for a time.

Marvel's Avengers Adds Even More PS Exclusives Besides Spider-Man

After announcing that PlayStation owners will get Spider-Man as an exclusive hero for Marvel’s Avengers, Crystal Dynamics detailed more console-exclusives coming to Sony’s console. Including timed-exclusive cosmetics and PlayStation community challenges. In a new blog post, Marvel’s Avengers detailed Community Challenges, which are events where Marvel’s Avengers players work together to unlock rewards for everyone. Each month a new Community Challenge will become available for players to solve together. PlayStation players will have access to exclusive Community Challenges that will unlock specific rewards for that console. There were also more details about cosmetics, which have their own rarities divided up into Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Cosmetics not only include skins, but also Takedowns, Emotes, and Nameplates. PlayStation players will have 30-day exclusive access to a Legendary Outfit, Legendary Emote, Epic Takedown, and nameplate for each superhero as they are released, including for the six launch heroes. PS Plus subscribers will also get a free cosmetic bundle fore each superhero added post-launch, like Hawkeye. With a variety of exclusive content, including heroes like Spider-Man, PlayStation is putting its stamp on Marvel’s Avengers, which is great for Sony but could leave some players in the cold.

Something about this game just isn’t doing it for me. Maybe I’ll change my mind if the reviews are good.

Watched a long clip of the game with Thor, and yeesh, that game looks so boring! It's a videogame and they can do ANYTHING, but instead of having Thor in some cool, fantastical environments like Asgard or something, fighting crazy monsters, they have him in a t-shirt on a fucking oil rig at night, in the rain fighting nondescript robots. YAWN!

Exactly what I was afraid of. Seems like Destiny 2 is the only one to crack the code with this formula, and it took them a year or so to really fine tune it.

oh boy... think I'm going to cancel my pre-order. This reminds me of the 4-player X-Men arcade game from back in the day... but slightly updated for 2020.

Yep, I canceled my Xbox pre-order. Was the last order from the Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked program. Will wait for reviews and eventually get the PS4 version when it's heavily discounted.

If they were going for repetitive enemies and such, they should have just made a DC Universe like game along the lines of the one on PS3. It would have been somewhat cool to play as the Avengers or other heroes with some friends while doing various tasks around a large map. Then the repetitive enemies wouldn't be as big of a deal. They should have aimed for this since the beginning, in my opinion.

Pre-ordered the PS4 version and am downloading the beta now. I don’t know what I believe in anymore.

Matchmaking is broken, load times are long, and your AI teammates are dumb, but this game is fun as hell.

Re: Marvel's Avengers (9/4/2020: XB1, PC, PS4, Stadia)
I’m limiting myself to only playing Kamala Khan and Hulk for the beta.
Kamala controls really well, especially combat. She is fun to play, and her powers just look great. You can chain light and heavy attacks I to some pretty long and powerful combos. Her traversal is so-so but still works the vast majority of the time. Not nearly as fluid as Spider-Man in his game.
Hulk is fine. He obviously just smashes shit. That’s about it. All of his attacks and abilities so far involve hitting something very hard, which is to be expected. His traversal, jumping, is cool but feels limited compared to Kamala. But I’m playing her the most so jumping from one to the other is disorienting.
If you played Anthem you will have a very good idea of how this game seems to be structured so far. Each mission takes place in a large-ish area, with maybe one or two other side things to do in the area. Chests to find mostly.
Loot unfortunately does not effect your characters appearance. Just stats and buffs.
For the most part the game looks really good, although the framerate takes a definite hit when there’s a lot going on in screen.
Im really surprised I like it as much as I do. Don’t go in expecting something revolutionary - what you’ve seen so far is exactly what you’re getting. But it’s still very fun.

i hated Anthem. it bugged my system out and was just not fun, but dammit if you’re not making me want to preorder. Now, the beta is just MP, right? No SP mission at all...

Far as I know, there are no missions where there’s just one hero from start to finish. Always a group of 4 (with a couple exceptions early on). Those other teammates can either be AI or real people.
From my perspective, it’s all single player, since I’m playing by myself, and matchmaking is so fucked up that I couldn’t play with anyone else if I wanted to.

As for why PlayStation gets preferential treatment, it’s a marketing thing. Sony opened up their wallet to make it happen.
