I just discovered that what I thought were just markers or totems are "lamps". I've been trying to make it back to the Akkala Tech Lab with a blue flame to light their furnace but can't quite make it all the way without something happening to extinguish the flame. But, now I'm just lighting them along the way so I don't have trudge all the way back when the flame goes out.

Damn. I was wondering what the comparison was like. Though Hyrule Field still seems like it took a while to traverse.

For whatever reason, Breath of the Wild is ridiculously cheap from a bunch of third party sellers on Amazon, for both the Wii U and the Switch. $24 shipped on the Switch and $17 on the Wii U, with a whole bunch of folks to choose from. Click on "other sellers"; I can't do direct links to those pages from DVD Talk.

Eh, I don't know. I posted in one of the Amazon threads that there seems to be a bunch of fake, third party, new sellers selling very desirable items at very low prices. Proceed with caution when you see these "sellers." Looking at the listings, I imagine a bunch of them are fake sellers.

That's strange. Wonder why? Still seems to be in demand everywhere else.

Seems like this is the hot new scam and Amazon is going to have to make some changes.

Is there any in game guidance on accessing the locations in the lost memories, or do I just go by the photos? Because every other main quest has at least some clear directions of where to go/who to see.

If you go to the various horse stables (or village, because I think he's in Kakariko as well) you'll come across a painter, and you can show pictures and he'll give you a hint for the nearest one.

I haven't had a chance to kick the tires yet, but a patch dropped last night that helps with the framerate drops.

I never played pre-patch but yeah, no real frame rate drops for me at all on the Switch @ 1080p
I don't really care for open world games much anymore but I am loving this so far, the atmosphere and especially the music makes it all just seem right.
The biggest downer for me is the voice they used for Zelda. Awful.

DigitalFoundry's Patch 1.11 frame-rate test:
Also, regarding the open world style used in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Aonuma said that will probably be the style used in future games in the series:
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA PRODUCER SUGGESTS THE SERIES WILL BE OPEN WORLD 'FROM NOW ON'
Also, regarding the open world style used in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Aonuma said that will probably be the style used in future games in the series:
"From now on," Aonuma explained, "this will probably be the standard form. However, eventually that in itself could become seen as 'Zelda as usual', and we would start to hear opinions this way and that way. This has always been the case, and the result of what we have made is ‘Zelda'."

I decided to pop this in for a little bit last night to check it out while watching the hockey game, and so far so good. It's the first Zelda game I've played since Ocarina of Time so it was fun running around in the world for a bit. So far I've only been playing on the Wii U tablet (which oddly enough I didn't know had rumble support), but it looked and ran fine so far. Hopefully this is a game I can pick up and play a bit and put it back without forgetting what I was in the middle of doing, because I don't normally spend long chunks playing the Wii U since it's in our living room. If anything, I'll at least dedicate some time playing this game during the playoffs

I've been playing this off and on for the last couple weeks and really enjoy it thus far, though it is a little easy.

It doesn't always tell you where to go next. Usually the beacon goes to whoever gave you the mission. The descriptions should give you more than enough information where to go though.

Finished this last week. Took me a month of constant playing, and playing only this and nothing else, even TV shows took a backseat, but I finally "finished", or rather beat Gannon.
My only problem with the "post-game" is that
Took me 100 hours, with only 30% map completion - which seems low to me, as I got all divine beasts, all memories, about 100 shrines, couple hundred Korok seeds, so it feels like I covered most, if not all, of the map. And not that I expected 100%, but more than 30%, maybe 50% at the least.
Oh well, I'll get back to it eventually, maybe when DLC hits, in the meantime, I'll go back to all the games that had to go on the back-burner; Horizon, Nioh, FFXV, ME:A, Nier and more (not to mention a backlog of TV shows)... shit, I am so behind on couch-time. Good problem to have, I guess.

Great. I've found all of 2 of those. I have no intention of gathering

But I don't know how it calculates that - do I have to have stood on every square inch of the map, or just the general vicinity around me? Does gliding over an area not count?

Last week, Nintendo revealed it sold 906,000 Switch consoles in the first 28 days of the console's release, and sold 925,000 copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Switch during the same period, giving it the highest attach rate for "any non-bundled title" on new hardware since NPD began tracking in 1995.

It's been pretty slow going for me too on this game; so far I've only completed one of the beasts, and have about 10 heart containers and 3 or 4 stamina upgrades. Still really just running around doing shrines and uncovering the map, but having fun doing so.
The guys at work set up an Amiibo station. Feels like cheating, but after owning the game already for so long i'll take the help
