Actually after a few misfires I realized you could spin the board counter clockwise and have it drop right in the center lane without going through the maze. That made it pretty easy.
That's the main quest for me as well, but I haven't bothered starting it. Shrines & sidequests to level up some and then some towers for me.
Oh and I love the insta-death encounters with the Yiga Clan.
Walk up to a stranger to talk and have them kill you. Lovely design element there.
Maybe that's what I need to focus on as well. I'm having some of the same problems as Corvin. Although the use of Amiibos have helped with the weapons breaking. I'm always stocked on items using those things.
Right now I'm on the mission where you have to go to four separate objectives across the map. And it seems like it's taking forever since I'm stopping to do shrines in between.

I'm far from a good videogame player, I tend to always pick "easy" if it's an option - but not once, in over 25 encounters, did I ever die at the hands of one of those Yiga Clan dudes, much less get insta-killed.

Me neither, but that was the last section of the map I covered so the Yiga didn't start showing up until way later in the game for me.

You didn't run in to the random travelers that were disguised as Yiga? I seemed to come up against them randomly all over, but maybe I just didn't notice what area I was in every time it came up.
I don't recall them being too difficult either.

Rarely, they became more prominent after they were formally introduced around Gerudo Town. Maybe my playthru was glitched.

At lower levels I just ignored them or ran away, there's nothing forcing you to engage them, is there?

Yup, I don't remember ever getting insta-killed by a random Yiga.

Speaking of the Yiga, it would have been interesting to see your, ahem...legend grow throughout the game(hell, maybe it does and I'm too early to tell), where the clan grows bigger & stronger a the tales of Link spread through Hyrule.
Think Zelda + Mordor's Nemesis system.

I started in on this three or four weeks ago and it has completely sucked me in. I'm hesitant to say 'best ____ ever' while still playing it, but it feels like it will at least be my favorite Zelda and probably one of my favorite games. The shrines are a wonderful addition and do a lot to make the world interesting and engaging. I've played a lot of open world games and it's very rare that I spend time solely exploring the world of one anymore, but I have no problem firing this up just to climb mountains, paraglide and run around to see what I come across. I understand the complaints on weapon durability, but it stopped being an issue for me once I had 6 or 7 slots. I occasionally run up against something that'll tear through 3-4 weapons, but it seems like I always have some spares leftover and they're plentiful enough that it's easy to quickly reestablish a stock. I've only done one of the divine beasts so far, but have finished a little over 60 shrines and I think I've found all the major towns. That said, I feel like I've been all over the map, but keep finding new stuff, which really keeps it fun. I know it's also available for WiiU, but I can see why Nintendo pushed it to be a Switch launch title. It's easily the best time I've had with a first game on a new system.

You think you've explored it all but you haven't. Guaranteed. With the recent DLC, I turned on that hero's journey/path (?) to see where I'd been, I couldn't believe all the areas I hadn't been too. I even found a fifth fairy. I thought there were only four. That's what I'm doing now is going to all the little areas that I missed. I'm also trying to get enough korok seeds to add my last melee weapon before I do the trial. I've easily got more than 200 hours logged on this game. I just love exploring.

Middle of the pack for me. It's clearly better than TP & SS, but breakable items, monotonous cooking, and a sparse over world keep it from being truly great. I can't decide if the map is too big or there's just not enough to do. It's a shit ton of walking/running.
I'm still playing, just doing shrines and towers still and an occasional side quest.

I love the game, but I don't know if I'll ever finish it. I think about turning it on, and I know I can't just have a short session, and it actually discourages me. It is fun to wander aimlessly though. And just knowing I'll never find every korok seed annoys me.

But everyone has their own way of playing, I don't think I've cooked more than twice.

I'm over a 100 hours into the game and am loving it!
Buying the house and having a pseudo-Animal Crossing experience is kind a fun.

Shows how much I haven't found. I have no clue about where this house is that you can buy.

I bought it to complete the mission, but really have no interest in playing "home maker" in it. Do items respawn there? That's one thing I haven't tried.

Not that I know of. It's handy to store an overflow of weapons/shields, and it's a convenient spot to rest/heal, but I think that's it.

Yeah, I missed all that and the demon statue on my first play through. I was thoroughly impressed with how much or how little you could choose to do in the game, most games make sure you see the bigger things they spent millions developing

I found the demon statue. Are those prefab houses in Hateno part of this home making thing? I was wondering why they were there with seemingly nothing to do with them.
