This '80s-set prequel was released a couple of years ago in Japan, and it's coming to the U.S. on 1/24. PS4 exclusive.

I've never played any of the Yakuza games, but this sounds like too much for me to pass up.

Awesome. I was getting it anyway. It's always been a fun series.

Not sure if there’s another thread on this, but I’m a few. Haters in and it’s a damn good game.

Discovering the Yakuza series has been the highlight of the year, gaming-wise, for me. Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami are my #2 and #3 games of the year so far. Bring on Yakuza Kiwami 2!

I didn’t want to create another thread but I recently got into Yakuza Kiwami and just saw news that 3, 4 and 5 remasters are coming to the PS4.

It's a pretty unusual series, I'm glad it's finding so much success.

So, I'm trying to enjoy Yakuza 0, but does it get better? It feels like a bargain bin version of Sleeping Dogs. Yes, the fights are brutal, but the game feels quite repetitive, and everything takes longer than it should. Playing mini-games, reading through text, everything is soooooo sluggish. I can see why people might find the story charming, but I'd love to walk more than 20 steps without getting in yet another fight. So, am I missing something?

I felt the same way. I couldn’t take it anymore.

Sleeping Dogs was so good... how does that not get a sequel?

I think I've played the first Yakuza, the third, and the 5th. By played, I mean I put a few hours into them, but never really enjoyed the endless side quests and mini games, and the cutting off point is generally when you have to change characters. I thought the 5th entry felt more like a PS2 game than a PS3 one. Sleeping Dogs was an awesome game, and I wish there was another similar game.

At least I feel less crazy that I didn't enjoy it.
