I'm finding that Retropie isn't running some critical games for me --- specifically WWF Superstars and Wrestlefest. Bummer.

Draven - how does one load the front end you're using on Pi?

For Mame? Wrestlefest is shown as confirmed working (wwfwfest) for mame2003, WWF Superstars (wwfsstar) in final burn alpha. They haven't been tested in opposing configurations tho.

I had it working in a straight up MAME configuration running off a computer. I'm still trying to figure out how different Raspberry Pi is from that...

The "MAME" choice within Retropie... what exactly is that? Can I get MAME2003 to work on a pi?
Sorry for the stupid questions. This community is easier to learn from than the constant Googling I've been doing lately.

When I set up RetroPie a month ago, it came preinstalled with both Mame4All and Mame2003. Mame2003 roms go in the Retropie\roms\mame-libretro\mame2003 directory

I have a Retropie\roms\mame-libretro file path only... was your created with "mame2003" or did you create that sub folder in mame-libretro?

UGH... now I can't even get roms added. I have no idea what's going on... it's like no matter what roms I add to my USB drive, retropie won't see them and add to my list... it'll only show the first 15 I ever installed.

Mine had that created by default. how long ago did you get your retropie code? I've never used the USB method to copy over roms. I just have a drive mapped to \\RetroPie

The roms directory for Mame2003 is /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro

you may need to create it yourself depending on the version of RetroPie you're using. I've copied over from USB but the "automated" copy from USB stopped working for me a few revisions ago.

^^ It was total user error. The files I was transferring over weren't zipped properly.

I got all my buttons and joysticks over the weekend. I hope to start building the Taz Mame design in another few weeks.

I got Reys 128gb running this weekend. It's impressive albeit a tad cumbersome to navigate -- there is just too much stuff. I wish I could trim down the list of roms.

After messing around with many different images and flat out reinstalling a fresh copy of Emulation Station on my raspberry pi, I've run into an issue where the system doesn't recognize my USB or wireless Xbox controllers. I can navigate the menus and start up a game just fine but when I try to start or play a game, no dice... the controller has no input abilities. I have the latest drivers, confirmed the controllers work so have any of you had this issue and know how to fix it?

Did you try removing all pre-existing configurations from the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads directory ? When you plug in a new controller / wireless adapter, that's where the controls get defined. Or redefine the controls within EmulationSTation?

I wound up buying the Old Skool NES case for a Pi build I did for a friend, better built than expected.

/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads is where they go after being defined, I was just curious if you tried emptying it out, starting fresh and what have you.

Didn't want to fool with looking for an SNES Classic next month and struck out finding an NES Classic before they discontinued it, so I decided to get the Raspberry Pi.

I have the kit (with the enclosure, cables, 32GB micro SD card, etc) and two of the Buffalo SNES knock off controllers.

This may be a stupid question, but the ROMS you put on the flash drive get transferred to the Pi. Are they transferred to the micro SD card loaded with Retropie? I was looking at downloading Rey's 128GB image to get all the ROMs, but not sure if I would need to buy a 128GB micro SD card as well as the 128GB flash drive.

Right now, I have just downloaded a complete NES and SNES ROMset.

Thanks for any help. Can't wait to bring back some childhood memories playing these old games.

Yes, you transfer them from the flash drive to the MicroSD and played within RetroPie/EmulationStation.

I would be wary of that. Seems over priced to me, based on similar bundles you can find on amazon, as well as the fact that you should probably get a raspberry pi 3 these days, not a 2.

Oh, and I actually have that keyboard they've bundled. It works, but is SO damn small it's a pain in the ass to type on.

dfmaverick - you can get a nice kit off Amazon and do yourself a favor and get a "real" wireless keyboard and mouse for the inevitable tooling around you'll do in the software.
I recently built my MAME cabinet ( I need to figure out how to host and post pics). I went with the Taz MAME design and am quite proud of my results.

Does anyone know of a good original Genesis controller to USB adapter? I have a nice arcade stick from back in the day I'd like to use on my Pi. Any other good USB replica controllers for NES, SNES, or Genesis?

Also, what is a good image to use these days? I know Retropie 4.4 just came out, so I'm looking to upgrade my setup. I already have Madlittlepixel's 128gb image from last year, so I shouldn't have to redownload all the roms, right?

I haven't use the variant that works with Genesis controllers, but I do have a 2600-daptor for Atari 2600 controllers and it works great. That guy's Vision and D9 adaptors work with Genesis controllers, per the chart on the website. Don't let the awful web design fool you, the product itself is solid.

There's also this. Not sure how good it is though.

Edited to add: for NES and SNES games, is solid.

I just started work on building a Rasberry Pi powered mame setup. It's all pretty new to me and so far my biggest issue is controller mapping. I have both my arcade sticks/buttons mapped as well as a USB game controller but some games seem to randomly pick which side (p1 or p2) is player one and do not allow custom mapping through their respective menus.
