Game of the Year 2016

With only a couple weeks left in 2016, it's time to find out what everyone's favorite game of the year is.

For me, it came down to Uncharted 4 and Forza Horizon 3. I went with Uncharted, but I'll end up putting more time into FH3 at the end of the day.

All in all, 2016 had a shit ton of great games. What was your favorite?

I'm biased but I voted for Overwatch, since it's genuinely the best multiplayer shooter i've played in a decade and i've spent the most time all year playing it. Uncharted 4 and Forza Horizon 3 round out my favorites for the year.

I'll go either Batman: Telltale series or Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2. Both great games, and honestly I haven't played many "2016" games...so there is that too, lol.

Out of those games the only I've played and finished are Doom, Uncharted 4, and Far Cry Primal. Out of those 3 I'd give it to Uncharted 4.

I have Hitman and Battlefield 1, so I may wait until I have finished those until I officially vote.

Ratchet & Clank is GOTY for me. With Battlefield 1 being a close runner-up and Dishonored 2 taking the bronze.

DOOM for me, it was far from perfect but I just had a blast playing it.

I'm still working through Uncharted 4, Last Guardian and FF XV but nothing suggest they'll take DOOM's place.

Overwatch is one of the most uniquely successful FPS games I've played and it deserves a ton of praise. I've never been hooked by it like some people but I do find a great deal to enjoy.

The only disappointment I really had was Forza Horizon 3, it was just kind of meh.

I plan on making a thread again. Great year for games.

Haven't decided between Uncharted 4, Titanfall 2, and INSIDE, best adventure game, FPS, and runner I've played.

It's still rather new, but Let It Die has really hooked me.

Uncharted 4 for me. It really showed off the power of the PS4 and was a great cap to the Uncharted franchise which is my all time favorite gaming franchise.

Biggest disappointment for me is Doom. After all the rave reviews I couldn't wait to play it but it just didn't catch me. I thought Return to Castle Wolfenstein was a better modern take on a classic game.

Wow! In the past I used to play at least 5 of the top games of the year. From the list, and I don't think it will be Top 5, I've only played Gears 4.

My guess is that Overwatch should win, right?
Was Uncharted 4 a "return to form" for the series?

Same disappointment for me with Doom, been trying to get through it but it's been a bit of a chore for me. The action just hasn't been doing it for me, and I also felt Wolfenstein was much, much better.

I think so, at least better then part 3. I imagine Uncharted will be GOTY here.

i haven't played many, but DOOM has been the most fun i've had since the original Halo...

Uncharted 4 for me. It delivered, big time. An epic, fun, well-made and well-acted game.

I like Overwatch a lot but only in small doses. It does what it does very well, but honestly I think Battlefield 1 is the best Multiplayer game I've ever seen.

Doom did absolutely nothing for me.

Honorable mention to Forza Horizon 3. More of the same (with a new coat of paint), sure. But so much fun nevertheless.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is my favorite release of 2016, but for new games, I'll go with Firewatch

Single player Inside
Multiplayer Overwatch

Re: Game of the Year 2016

There are 8 games on that list that I am at various stages through, but won't complete for a while longer, so it's hard to make a call without having the full experience. However, going by what I have completed so far it comes down to Inside and Titanfall 2 with a nod to Battlefield 1. Going with Inside.

I haven't played enough games to really weigh in, but I suspect if I had, Inside would still be my vote.

I played Day of the Tentacle on the PC when it came out. I was in high school at the time. Still one of my favorite games to this day.

Deus Ex for me.

I couldn't finish DOOM either. It got stale real quick.

Final Fantasy XV. Even though I didn't finish it , the 40 hours I put in were the most fun I've had with a game this year. I'll be coming back to it after they patch the game up. This was the first FF game where I understood most of the plot. Graphics were gorgeous, the sound and music were well made, and best of all was the combat system. Just flowed really well .

I went with Titanfall 2, it's just so much of what I like in FPSs.

FFXV or Civ 6 for me.
