Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Thinking about getting a Switch for the holidays. Any recommended games for kids who play Mario Kart, Ni No Kuni, and Minecraft?

There are a couple of great exclusive JRPGs for the Switch : Octopath Traveler and Fire Emblem : Three Houses. Neither is exactly Ni No Kuni, but they're both really fun, well done and easy enough for kids to play.
And of course besides Mario Kart 8, you should pick up Smash Bros Ultimate which is hugely popular with the kids. My son and his friends play it all the time.

Was it bad? I don't recall why but I never picked it up. I have nothing but fond memories of the 1st. I'll be buying 3 at launch day.

I'm tempted by the extra coins for preordering LM3 but the last time I got tempted by the bonus coins was Mario Tennis, which is one of my biggest switch regrets.

Most of the reviews for Dark Moon were pretty positive, but my experience was reflected by Game Spot

A mostly pleasant game marred by the possibility of moments so frustrating, they threaten to overshadow the entire experience. These missteps are all the more disappointing because the better elements of the game are so charming. You may still want to take up the PolterGust 5000 and explore these haunted houses, but be warned: the things lurking in these dark places aren't likely to scare you, but they may well have you seeing red.

It seems interesting enough for me to give it a buy. I go to the gym regularly, but I have slacked on cardio/abs so maybe this will be a nice little addition for conditioning type workouts.

Swapped to a Lite so no Ring Fit for me. That being said, I wouldn't be interested even if I were able. I exercise in my basement where there is no setup to use it.

What really? I thought it was awesome. Like the first one but a much bigger map and more variety. In what way was it unplayable? The controls?

I tried it out after work and made it through the first world (about 25-30 minutes counting setup). So far it's awesome. Definitely a good workout at least for someone like me who's only exercise is playing basketball 3 times a week. The ring-con gives way more resistance then I was expecting.

I tried it last night, and I made it through the first 2 levels. I was surprised at the challenge of some of it. It actually did get me to sweat. The ring has less resistance than I expected, but it was still decent. I'm actually looking forward to playing it. The setup did take quite a long time.
I was also surprised at the length of the fit battles. That first battle having to do 30 squats? Damn, it's significant.

I've probably put about 150 hours total into gaming on it so far with no drift issue. That number will balloon up quite a bit when Pokemon comes out in a couple weeks.
Edit: I guess I should add that none of the games I've played require any precise stick movement (fighting games, platformers...etc). I'm a RPG player; games which rarely need any movement like that.
