Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I wish there was an option to buy either the Super Nintendo or Super Famicom version of the controller. I’d prefer the Famicom
colors personally, but might even consider one of each.

There's the option of the 8bitdo Super Famicom-style wireless controller that was released some time ago.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I think they discontinued this version of the controller, specifically because of the super famicom colors. I'm not sure why Nintendo would come after them for that, but apparently they did?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Amazon currently has several sellers offering new controllers, and there's a "barely used" one for sale for $35. In case Mike86 is interested in picking one up.
I've picked up a couple of different 8bitdo controllers in the past, and they are very high quality.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I had an 8bitdo controller but was having a hard time figuring out how to get it synced with the Switch so I returned it and got a Pro Controller. The Super Nintendo/Famicom controller isn’t something I desperately need, but I was thinking about one since they’re only $30.

IIRC I had to get a BT dongle and use it with the dock to get the 8bitdo SNES controller to work.

For the one that clappj listed above and for the version prior, at least, you have to put it in "switch" mode by pressing the Y button and start to turn it on, then you can pair it with your switch. It's in the instructions but it's easy to miss/forget (you might also have to update your firmware but that's trivial if you have a computer). You don't need a dongle or anything.

Reviews are now out for Zelda : Link's Awakening and they are very positive except for Framerate issues. Looks to be a very good, very charming and completely faithful remake. Currently at 88 on Metacritic with many, many reviews in.

This is going to be basically a whole new game for me. I only played it once way back when it first came out. I remember little/nothing about it. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I still feel like the game is overpriced considering it's a GBA game with a fresh coat of pain.t Almost nothing new is added except the dungeon maker which every reviewer states is worthless. Not what we are used to getting for a $60 remaster, but considering I still have three Vouchers and they only ended up costing me about $42 each between the Costco eShop funds and the Gold coins with purchase, I can live with the purchase I guess.

I have no issue paying full price for a completely remade Zelda game. But I was also fine with paying basically full price for Wind Waker HD. IMO, a good Zelda game is always worth full price, remake or not.

I mean, I'm still getting it, but I can understand the initial reactions when it was first announced.

Reviews coming in are saying the d-pad doesn't do diagonals well (like it sucks for fighting games, for instandce). That might be a dealbreaker for me.

I used a voucher on it.
Speaking of Vouchers, if you pre-order Luigi's Mansion 3 with a voucher, apparently you get 300 coins ($3 back). This is a preorder bonus and the first one offered for a voucher-eligible game pre-order. If you pre-order the game without a voucher, you get 600 coins instead of the usual 300.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Anyone playing the new Zelda today?
How is it?
I'm hearing mixed stuff, like the game is good, but gets in it's own way by being clunky with bad frame-rate/visual issues.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Links Awakening definitely seems overpriced. The D-pad controls don't work even though the game's movement is in 2D.

Nintendo over-prices it's games and they never drop - basically because they can, I guess.

Say what you will, but it's smart. As a consumer I feel better dropping coin on a Nintendo new release knowing it's not going to drop 20 bucks in less than a month or won't show up on a subscription service.
