I love how the US is sold out, but it seems other countries have this version in-stock with no problems (Amazon.ca has it but won't ship it to the US).

Yeah, it's in my cart. I really wanted to find it at Target to get the Target card discount on it, but I might as well pull the trigger here.

edit to add: Got it! Now I need to figure out how to get this 3rd Switch on my Nintendo account where I've been buying all of the games for my kids over the past few years.

Saw that Knights of the Old Republic was ported to Switch last week. Only $14.99 so I decided to download it. Never really played it much back in the day, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

What's interesting is that the Switch port seems to be in lieu of the remake being developed for PC and PS5:
https://screenrant.com/kotor-switch-...-power-remake/
News of the original Knights of the Old Republic being ported to Switch comes shortly after it was announced that Aspyr had teamed with Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop a remake of the beloved title. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake is said to be in early development and does not currently have a release date, though will launch simultaneously on PC and the PlayStation 5. It will be a timed console exclusive for the PS5 and is expected to make its way to other systems after the fact.
The reviews seem mostly positive, although they note the controls can be a bit awkward in parts:
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews...e-old-republic
One minor annoyance that we feel still needs to be mentioned is that it’s abundantly clear KOTOR was not designed to be played with a controller. While it may be that the original released on the Xbox alongside its PC release, the world itself feels like it’s ideally navigated by mouse. There are lots of interactable elements in any given part of the world, and where you would simply point and click on menus or NPCs in the past, here you rather awkwardly cycle through targets by using the shoulder buttons. It’s far from deal-breaking, and we’d argue the novelty of having KOTOR on the go outweighs this drawback, but just be prepared for controls that’ll always feel a little hokey.

I use it for my Gen1 Switch and absolutely love it. Extremely recommended if you play in handheld mode a good amount.

After not playing my Switch for a while, back at it with Picross S6 and Picross Sega. I've finished S1-4 but I haven't finished 5, I'll work on it alongside 6.

^ Is Astral Chain worth it? Doesn't look like any local stores have it, but I'd buy digital.

Might grab Paper Mario: The Origami King. Otherwise not much there I want that I don’t already have.

Some would say that was the third best game of last year.

I picked up Paper Mario: The Origami King. $27 for Switch games are deal. I'm debating Astral Chain, but I've already spent over $150 on games so far during these sales.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I’m thinking of getting my kids a Switch Lite for Christmas (we already have a regular switch). How difficult is sharing purchased games from the eshop between them? I saw something that the secondary switch has to always be online for that. Is that accurate, or is it like the NES/SNES games where it needs to check in online once a week or so?

It definitely checks in more often than that, I haven't tested it myself in airplane mode but I've seen people say it's 3 hours. It's basically checking to make sure you don't have other secondary switches also playing the game (your primary switch and one secondary switch can play at the same time).

The other weird thing is that if both are playing the same game you can't do local co-op with each other, only online co-op.

VERY difficult. you need to think through very careful before every purchase who is going to play it and on which switch. and then you'll still mess it up.

? With two switches it's not difficult at all, you can even switch which one is your primary pretty easily. With three or more, it becomes a gigantic hassle though. What have been your issues with it?

Basically, if you're the account where all the games are going to be bought, you take the secondary switch (since on that switch only the account owner can play the digital games, on the primary any profile can).

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

It seems pretty difficult to me actually to share digital Switch games between two Switches in the same household. Possible, yes, but hardly simple.
Especially if you as the primary account holder already bought the game on your Switch and want to share that game on your kid’s Switch which is the second one you owned (which I imagine is the case for most people).

Like I said, you have to make your kid's switch the primary so they can play on their own account, and just take the L of having to check in periodically on your, now secondary, switch.

Or do what we did in the old days and buy two copies of the game.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I mostly do what we actually did in the old days : buy a physical copy and share it.
Like I said, digital sharing is possible but it’s not easy and it’s not ideal.
