I've found brickseek to be consistently correct for Targets in my area, and a bunch of them have as many as 12 this morning, which is the most I've seen in one place at one time.

$99.99.
I mean, we've seen resellers on Amazon, walmart.com, etc. marking these suckers up to hell and back, but this is the first time I've seen a reputable, name retailer jacking up the price like this themselves. Less than the reseller crowd, sure, but...

A co-worker of mine who doesn't know anything about this just assumed the system's actual price was $200 based on all the third party listings. She seemed like she was ready to buy at that price until I let her know it's not worth more than $60.

That's funny! I just used the BrickLink URL, and these are all over the place currently at my local Targets.
Worth looking at for anyone who still wants one for Christmas gift.

For anyone in the west burbs of Chicago, Lombard Target is showing over 20 right now. I thought about taking a drive over from my office but I am resolute to not buy this thing unless I come across it on a shopping trip or see it online.

Also FWIW, I've seen stores in the last few days have quantities getting updated later in the day to in stock numbers. This could be due to UPS delivering last minute shipments vs. the normal Target truck bringing them.

my wife almost paid $250 for it when I said I wanted it for christmas. luckily I intervened in time, and ended up tracking down one myself.

This is too much work and I lost interest when people started selling them for $300.
Those flash sales never happen when I check online.
Nintendo made it out to be a toy whereas Microsoft and Sony market their items as entertainment and tech.
No wonder Nintendo is so behind the other companies. I think Trent Baalke the Niners GM has a side job working as the CEO of Nintendo.

Even two weeks after Christmas, this thing's tough to find?
Man, Nintendo sure are a bunch of shitheels.
I just looked at ebay for shits and giggles, and what's funny is that the much cooler looking Japanese version (which comes with a 2nd controller) is going for around $120, while the American version is going for around $150 to $200.

Hackers have hacked this thing so you can have a total of 60 games (limited by the UI, apparently), including the option to delete any of the 30 default games you don't want. Not bad.

What's nice is that Nintendo can't "fix" it since it has no online connection. Although this could be addressed in future manufacturing runs.

Interesting, so that means there's a full blown emulator that works for anything in there. That makes me interested more, just for the novelty of messing with it.

I was also thinking about getting a Raspberry Pi which would obviously hold a ton more games and systems, but then you lose the cool retro aspect. Anyone have experience building one? What are your feelings?

I've heard upwards of 85-95 games total. Definitely has me even more interested in picking one up when it becomes available.

The one problem I've had with emulation on my PC, though, is the controllers. I tried using a Sony DS3, but I found for old 8 & 16bit games that moving diagonally with the d-pad was almost impossible. Made games like Street Fighter 2 & MK hard to play.

Middle of January and the NES Classic is probably a Collector item and won't be restocked. Obviously, Nintendo is more interested in selling limited amount of units then making it available. I'm starting to hate Nintendo business decisions...
