Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
The game was working all sorts of wonky for me yesterday. I must have walked 3 or 4 miles and hit 20 pokestops while at the zoo, and I only got a couple km, and a third of the pokestops were failing for me with the Try Again later. I assumed it was some server glitch, but maybe it's just some bugs with these new updates.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
This is what looks different as of today.
* Pokestops are even more speed limited.
* Pokestops are giving 6 or 7 items now.
* Common Pokémon are popping up like crazy, like twice as many as usual.

Yeah speed-limited Pokestops sucks because my husband and I drive A LOT together and whoever's a passenger is spinning both phones. Kept getting Try Again Later today over and over again

I guess the doubled spawns and items are just part of a limited-time event until the 10th. I was hoping it was to make up for the speed limitation.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
The speed limited kills it for me to. We would head downtown and drive down main street hitting at least 15 pokestops at 20mph from one end to the other end, make a U-turn, and repeat. By the time we get to the end, all of the pokestops refreshed (except for the most recent ones). Now all of those stops say "try again later". Frustrating.

My area seems to be closer to 10. Even 15 mph is a guaranteed fail. Maybe there's a difference between Apple and Android, though. Who knows.

I haven't seen this tip before: ZOMBIE POKEMON or How to Revive Your Pokemon With No Revives
After giving up on gyms and battles for awhile, I recently noticed gyms seem to be "back in play" with numerous gyms back down to low levels and many with open slots for my faction. The last few days I've done quite a bit of battling and failed to notice I was running out of revives. Correction, I ran out of revives.
If you power up a "fainted" Pokemon it will revive the creature and restore it to 1 HP. From there you can use the other potions to finish healing.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
I don't like what they did to the gyms. Before if you spent the time to level it up, you felt your time was worth it because you might keep the gym for a little while. Now they made it even longer and then some level 12 can come take it down in 5 minutes. Not worth my time now.....

From Niantic
Starting November 23rd at 00:00 UTC and going through November 30th 00:00 UTC, we will double the amount of XP and Stardust you receive when completing in-game actions.
also
We have made adjustments to the CP (Combat Power) of various Pokémon. Some Pokémon, such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar will have their CP increased. Others will have their CP lowered. These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.
---------
The CP changes are server side and seem to happen when you restart the game. As usual there is little information and conflicting reports on which Pokemon went up and which went down.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
I'm sure gonna miss the double XP. Sunday morning I drove to the nearest pokestop and did a lucky egg evolution session so I got 10k each for hitting my first pokestop and first catch of the day bonus on the 7th day. I was gonna do another lucky egg last night, but the event ended before I got around to it (I thought it was supposed to end today).
Also added 5 new pokemon to my dex when I went to Florida for Thanksgiving. They had a shit ton of Voltorbs and Magnemites there.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
New tracking system is active!!! Not sure of the specifics, but the sighting tracker now shows the Pokestop the critter is nearby. You can click on a Pokemon in the sighting tracker and it will zoom in, but I'm not sure what all it does (how the nearby tracking works). Cooped up in my living room for now ...
