Since we keep bumping this thing, I'll mention that the game is on sale at Best Buy this week for $19.99 ($15.99 w/ GCU). Killer fucking price for two terrific games and one pretty good game.

I would consider 1 & 2 to be the terrific ones and Infinite to be the very good one.

I thought Bioshock 2 was universally thought to be the "bad" one of the 3. Btw, after finishing Infinite, I don't think I could ever go back to the other 2. I got WAY too used to the "push a button to have an arrow show up to tell you which direction to go". I was ALWAYS lost in the original bioshock.

There were arrows in the original BioShock too I thought? Or are they off by default?

Yep, that's where I was going with this. That's why I was still saying it was a good game, but after playing one and Infinite, it's easily the weakest of the series. And also the only one not done by Irrational Games and Ken Levine's team, and I think it shows.

I still haven't played 2, I need to get around to it. But yeah, for the most part I think most people considered Bioshock 2 the "lesser" game in the series but still very good.
Review wise on Metacritic (based on the 360 versions):
BioShock - 96
BioShock 2 - 88
BioShock Infinite - 93

As I answered a few days ago, yes, Bioshock 2 is more of the same. It's not a bad game, but it doesn't bring a lot of new things to the game. Bioshock 1 was amazing, the final boss battle sucked though. Infinite was refreshing, another great story to mess with your head. And the DLC for Infinite was just perfect.

Re: Bioshock Collection (PS4, XB1, PC) - 9/13/16
Bioshock 2 is underrated, IMO. The original is clearly the best, but you never really break free to be a total badass until far too late in the game and by that time you get to the lame final boss. Bioshock 2 fixed that and you get to kick ass early on making it better in that regard. The story was fine. Little sisters growing up and being their own protectors was cool. Nothing earth shattering, but it wasn't that bad. Minerva's Den was awesome.
Now if we're talking more of the same look no further than Infinite. Rehashed weapons, Vigors were just pale imitations of plasmids (that did the same exact things). Comstock was a poor man's Andrew Ryan. Motorized Patriots felt like warmed over Big Daddies. Granted the story kinda rationalizes some of this towards the end, but that doesn't make the previous dozen hours less similar to Rapture. The scope of the story is where it shines, but plodding through the game kinda sours the whole affair for me.
It is kinda funny how Infinite ended setting up this big universe and poof... no more sequels.
All that being said, I really need to crack open my Bioshock collection and play through all three again. Even Infinite, just for the story. Maybe drop it on easy just to burn through it.

Neither. It's a separate story, just in the same setting. It's not particularly story focused either - it's more of an action game than the first one was, for the better, IMO.

ok. i think i can live in this world a bit longer and maybe do the dlc's.
Do the dlc’s add to stories of each game or more standalone chapters?

I really thought this was over after aforementioned spoiler, but it keeps going. The splicers get so hard and Big Daddies are tough. But still plugging. Love the exploration aspect especially. Finding things in places you don’t really need to be but g-damn if I don’t need every kill and piece of whatever I can find. Ammo goes so quick for me on every weapon and when u lose control of plasmid changing it blows. But such a good experience. What is typical hour length of this one?

Re: Bioshock Collection (PS4, XB1, PC) - 9/13/16
Yeah, I can see that. Not complaining. Pretty lengthy and the story really is excellent, just wish I was more of a badass. I suck at ammo conserving and die...a lot. I’ll see if I want to stay in Rapture for 2 or do something different like CoD: WWII. Very much want to see that world/time period and see how it plays out with antiquated weapons. Usually like these powerful made up weapons in most FPS and just kick ass. Must take some getting used to...

So, I played a little of 2. Liking it. So I’m
and am now a Big Daddy? Am I a BD whole game? I like that you can use plasmid and weapon at virtually same time. Nice improvement over first. What I don’t like is that it seems harder to heal or use first aid pack and reload eve. Used to be B and X. Now, it’s not. I know healing is on D-pad, right. Can you assign reload of eve to one of the buttons on D-pad as well?
