Why can't Ueda make a game with decent controls? I liked Ico and SotC just fine, but they both had shit for controls, and this game seems to be following suit in that regard.

My copy shipped from Gamefly. This looked like an ideal rental to me.

I'm not a fan of getting games from redbox cause I feel like I'm always in a rush to finish it. I'd much rather get it with GCU take a week or two to play through it and trade it in and only be out about $15 bucks.

Played for about an hour last night and the game is absolutely fantastic so far.
And if this damn bird-dog dies at some point in the game I am gonna be crushed.

I bought it yesterday during the B2G1 sale (had to renew my GCU membership also), I'm more impressed that 1) It actually came out and 2) That it's not a total trainwreck more than anything

Re: The Last Guardian (PS4) 12/6/16
I'm about 4 hours in and I'm starting to force myself to continue. Every aspect of this game is frustrating. Besides the laborious act of getting Trico to move or do what you want him to do your own character controls like shit. I just spent like 5 minutes doing the most basic platforming sequence because it takes like 5 button pushes and constantly adjusting my character just to get him to drop down to the next level. The game isn't even challenging so far it's purely fighting the controls and poor camera movement where you can't adjust it enough to see where you're supposed to go.
Edit:
Played another 30 minutes and I'm done.

Finished it up today. Liked the story but hated the controls/ camera. 6/10 but would be. 8.5/10 if they made competent controls.

Despite immensely disliking the game and abandoning it several times I ended up finishing this. The controls and camera would frankly have been embarrassing in the sixth generation. And the AI probably would've been embarrassing in the fifth generation. The ending and final sequence makes it slightly redeemable from a storytelling standpoint but I still have no clue what Ueda's team has been working on the past decade. I sincerely hope Shuhei disbands that studio. This game was just inexcusable.

Finished it last night. What a wonderful game. I had none of the problems getting Trico to go where I wanted him like I see others complain about. Hell, most of the time he knew where he needed to go without me having to even ask him. A true gem of gaming right there with Ico, and to a lesser extent Shadow of the Colossus.
