Overall it's a good game but since it's so similar to the latest Tomb Raider(which is the last game I most recently played) it just can't compare. Eidos has perfected the genre and TR has a level of polish this game just doesn't have. Lara has a flow and fluidity about her and the environment. You can run, jump grab a vine swing to a wall to climb with her axes, hop off to a hanging bar, swing and dismount into a drop & roll and be on your way and just feel like a badass. Cal kinda bumbles along. I fall off cliffs. If I don't slide down an icy path just right and hop to grab a rope, I'm falling to my death (multiple times). Wall running works pretty well but I miss Lara's "scramble" up a wall (kinda like a double jump) and her tuck and roll vs. Cal's... foot shuffle? That's a weird one.
now, when you drop down to easy, does that only change enemy easiness? nothing to do with the traversal, right?

Yeah, traversal appears to be the same. I know Tomb Raider adjusts timing a bit but this game doesn't appear to.

So I did what I always hated to do and maybe did once before on one level only of 1 game, but I dropped to easy and yeah, enemies little less difficult. Meaning I die less. I mean it was all block and parry and now the force stuff is cool, push and hold and pull. I’m gonna get that throwing lightsaber ability for 3. That looks very useful. But if I didn’t have those YouTube videos I would never figure out some of these damn puzzles. Erecting Miktrull in tomb or whatever. They can be so frustrating...

Finished this up over the weekend. Spent far too much time trying to figure out how to get to that big dude in Bogano before looking it up to find that you can't actually reach/fight him. Great game overall, I had a blast.

Edit: Just saw that a trailer ad they started playing over the weekend spoils the fucking end surprise in the game. Beware if you've yet to purchase and want to go in blind!

holy fucking shit was this an epic game. haven't felt that emotional both elated and exhausted at the same time. loved it all and hope for more just like this. yes, frustrating at times, but just such an enjoyable game and that it's Star Wars, just phenomenal. so glad had no idea about final confrontation. just great! wanted to finish before movie and so glad i did. can't wait for it and hopefully more from Respawn in this game world.

Iím slowly playing through this still. Good game but I just find myself not playing as many console games anymore. I use my Switch more than anything, and thatís typically in handheld mode.

I dropped it down to easy and am having more fun with it, but it's still pretty average, IMO. I don't see myself hunting down all the collectibles because they're kinda pointless. Story is okay, I guess. Nothing revolutionary so far.

I really want a ranged attack. 100% close combat gets kinda old even with lightsabers. Also, are there no stealth takedowns in this game other than from a higher ledge? Force pushing people off ledges is fun though.

After just seeing TLJ again, I was surprised at how many similarities there were to this game. All rousing, all perfect Star Wars and can’t wait for the conclusion to the saga.

The pull & stab is OP. I actually stopped using it after a while because it can be done to basically any human.

I picked this up from the library yesterday and put a few hours into it so far and it's really not grabbing me. The combat isn't satisfying and some of the enemy encounters feel cheap. The game also feels dated. Does it get better later on when you get more abilities or something? I'm not a big SW fan, but I am a big Respawn fan, so I want to give it a fair shake.

I am a huge SW fan and I'm not finding this game very compelling either. It's fine in doses but I feel like it's just level after level of the same type of action. Also, having to retrace my steps to get BACK to my ship is a huge pain.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)

yeah, they can fuck right off with that going back to the ship nonsense.

I backtracked on one planet and ziplined down to an area (prior to getting the "up" zipline skill) where I couldn't get to the ship. I had to back-backtrack to the end of the level and work my way back around to the ship.

Once I'm playing, it's fun enough, but it's not something I'm thinking about playing when I'm not, or itching to play instead of just watching tv.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)

yeah, the more i think about this game, that while it seems good and plays good, it was just too frustrating ultimately for me to love. i def liked it, thought it had some good emotional strings, but had to use so many damn videos to find how to get somewhere and going back to a planet to get other stuff you couldn't get before is a pain in the fucking ass and really doesn't do much for final battle. going along regular story and getting what you could should be fine. i do want more in same vein, but refine, ease up on the traversing and backtracking and for god's sake give him/her at least a blaster where you can guide the shots with the Force...

I find the gameís default difficulty setting a bit too hard personally. I normally play on the default or normal mode but probably will drop it down because a lot of times I find myself just getting frustrated with some of the creatures that are encountered.

I had to drop it down once, when I fought the ninth sister. That battle suuuuucked and I got fed up with replaying it.

They really need to add a feature where you can fast-travel between meditation points.

I agree; although I'm sure they just copied Souls games in that regard. Difference being, they didn't add enough short cuts to make it easy to backtrack.

Also, please fucking “block” when I hit the “block” button. The controls are so unforgiving at times.

I think this was the last straw for me. I spent at least 30 minutes if not longer trying to get back to my ship this last time. I'm honestly not sure what people see in this game. If you would have told me this was a backwards compatible last gen game I would completely believe you. The gameplay feels stale and the controls suck.

I think more than anything I like the game for its story and the fact that itís a strictly single player game, which is rare to get now days. I agree it has some flaws though. Still pretty good overall if you ask me.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)

So my son used some of his PlayStation store credit to get me this for Christmas and as a SW fan I should be more pleased, but I've just never been into this style of game. I put in a few hours over the weekend, and I'm liking the story, but holy forking shirtballs having to retrace your steps is a forking pain. I'm still in the tomb on Zeffo, trying to figure out the giant balls puzzle (the one with three of them) and I set the game on the easiest mode. Is there something I'm missing in this puzzle? Where does the third ball go?
If I have to go to Youtube to watch a play through to figure it out, that's not good game design.

But I like the character and ship designs and everything, I'm just not into games like this and I feel awful that my kid used up his store credits (plus some from mom) to get this for me.

^ I spent a little time on that one too. It's a little difficult to explain but from what I remember you had to have it shoot up the ramp and then force push it into place.

On that note I have no desire to go back to this game When I last left off I was returning to one of the planets I had already been too and I just don't have it in me to continue.

Yeah, finally got the third ball in place. I swear, with all that ball handling I felt like I was in a Brazzers video.

But I’m still wanting to see the story so I’m plugging away. Had some fun using Force push to hit stormtroopers with their colleagues.
