I'm a SW slappy and will buy anything video game related... this is no exception. That said, the videos I've seen aren't blowing me away. This game sort of reminds me of the Jedi games that came out a few years back... wipe out an area, rinse, repeat. I hope the story is excellent or at least adds to the lore in a meaningful way.

I still believe this game will exceed a lot of expectations and put to rest the fears and disappointments from past SW games.......and the trailers and game play to me at least has been impressive. One can read this article from Gamespot back in June who sat down with "Stig Asmussen"...the Director of Jedi Fallen Order...who by the way worked on all the God of War games. Not enough..Respawn is making the game who is know for Titanfall and Apex....but read thru the article and there's a great deal of conversation about the combat where they took a bit of God of War along with Bloodborne and some inspiration from Sekiro......

Well they're not giving ANY timed trial with EA Access for this game, "in part to reduce the risk of spoilers". Because, you know, it's not like there are any sort of streaming services to watch other people playing video games that would "spoil" things for you.
Instead we get some free useless skins!
Again, you could assume that means that EA doesn't want you knowing the game is problematic. I think maybe it's because the campaign might be pretty short, but who knows?
And yes, there is a review embargo until it launches. So anyone who preorders it digitally is assuming some risk. I'd be guarded at this point.

I think it will be great. The early impressions from reddit have been positive. And as mentioned, it's Respawn.

And protecting the public from spoilers is a bullshit excuse for this level of secrecy .

I don't doubt that the game will be pretty good. But what if it's short? What if it's Modern Warfare campaign with no other modes? That is a good game but not worth $60 when you can finish it up in a Redbox rental Is there any indication that isn't the case? Or maybe it's fun but repetitive. Reviews aren't the end-all, but they can be useful. EA makes sure that there are early reviews out for Madden every year (and nobody really needs those). It would be nice if this game had at least a day where folks could read a review before pre-ordering a copy to get the bonuses.

Oh I know there are work-arounds. I just was saying that we can't assume it's a great game worth a full-priced purchase when there is all this secrecy around the game. If there were positive reviews out there I would buy this digitally with the EA Access discount (I have so many unused spacebucks on my Xbox account now since Game Pass takes away my desire to buy games on sale any more). But now I will just wait for reviews, and maybe for a sale.

And what could they possibly spoil? Saw Guerrera is in it... so we know this is old shit BEFORE Episode IV. I don't buy the "spoiler" thing. I think Decker is right and this game is going to be 10-15 hours.

If anyone is that die hard about preorder bonuses, just preorder from Target. I canceled by Death Stranding preorder more than a week out from release and they still sent me the preorder bonus a few days after the game came out. So I just deleted the email.
That's not entirely true, at least for BB but I'm not sure about Walmart. While BB won't charge your card for the initial preorder they do charge you as soon as your item is ready for pickup. So if you do decide to cancel the pickup after the game comes out it will take a few days to process the refund. Same with store pickup at Target.
Or pre order it with an online company like Best Buy or Wal-Mart for instore pick up to get the preorder bonuses and if the game reviews poorly just cancel because they don't charge you until you pick it up. Easy. Or if you are that worried about it don't preoder since the preorder bonuses don't really effect the game any at all.

And Best Buy has reserved the right to charge you for the Pre-order bonus if you return the item. I don't know if they actually will charge you $5-$10 for the emailed code you literally CAN'T return, but they have the wording in the agreement now so they can.

I have to admit, I feel that way, too, in terms of the time involved. I spend more money on more fleeting experiences (dinner out with the family, a night out at the movies). Fifty bucks for 3-5 sessions of play doesn't seem too much, when I put it like that.

Well, there are games that waste your time and those that don't - it usually doesn't involve hours required to finish them. Like, a 50 hour game could be 50 hours of enjoyable gameplay where you feel your time wasn't wasted, whereas even a good 10 hour game might waste your time by making you do rudimentary/mundane shit for half that time.

My copy shipped from Amazon earlier today. Looking forward to it and also don’t care if the game is a bit on the short side.

People are getting their copies of the game and have been playing today, and early impressions are very strong - this bodes well!

The game unlocks at 9PM PT. That is also when the embargo lifts and IGN announced that they will put out their review at that moment.
I discovered that my Best Buy pre-order should come with a $10 RZ certificate (It was removed from the item description by the time my order was placed but it's still listed in their Offer page, so I will be holding them to that)
For $38 + tax with still-active GCU, I can't really say "no" unless it sounds totally unappealing to me (like Death Stranding did)

I have watched a couple of playthrough videos posted to You Tube today. Looks like Star Wars meets Uncharted, and that is music to my ears.
