That puzzle was the hardest for me by a good margin. Now that you're past that, you should be good to go.

Some of the mechanics are just half baked. That ball puzzle was annoying but not terrible.
I got stuck on the next planet in a cavern where you have to climb/jump four columns. Climb up the side of #1, jump to side next, climb #2, jump to #3 and on to #4. I could not grab that fourth column so into the abyss I fell.. over and over and over. Probably a half dozen times. It was so dumb I had to YouTube a walkthrough to make sure I wasn't in an area I shouldn't be yet. Nope, climb/jump to all four. I guess the third column and spacing between the fourth has just a very tight window where Cal can grab it.
Other annoyances... slipping or falling off cliff edges when I'm just trying to get a look at what's below me. Walking on wide tree branches but still slipping off. The whole "snowboard/skiing" nonsense where you have to slide down a hill and time your jumps or aim to grab a rope when sliding is not very precise. Sliding down and jumping to a rope/vine is almost a guaranteed fall to my death at least once every time I encounter one of these.
These are all just silly/dumb mechanics that adventure games like Tomb Raider solved years ago. The game knows I'm trying to make Lara jump from where I'm standing to that ledge so if my aim is off 5% the game still "gets it" and I make the ledge. This game seems to have a miniscule window of error which is annoying beyond belief.

^^ Agree on the stupid ice sliding gimmick... The game has horrible controls overall. I plan to eventually wrap this game up but I won't like it. So disappointing.

It's crazy to me that controls are a problem in this game. Titanfall has such amazingly accurate controls.

Have their been any updates that patch the controls or such? I'm running on a PS4 Pro, I thought that did updates automatically?

I had zero issues with the controls. I thought it controlled great. I had maybe one time where I got a little stuck getting back to my ship but otherwise the map system was solid.

Just spent an hour trying to get back to my ship on Zeffo (before I got to a forced cut scene).
The 3D map is atrocious. Metroid: Prime had a similar map and wasn't nearly as bad.
I rarely quit games but I'm not sure how much more energy I have for this one.

It's funny, they stole so much of their game play mechanics from Uncharted and Tomb Raider but somehow made navigating around the map very confusing here and I was like Never lost in any of those games.

Side note: is there ANY place in the game that when you jump to a climbable surface, you don't want to grab onto the surface? If not, why is there a button press you need to make...with A DELAY. I've switched my controls to a Soulsborne set up and the number of times that I've fallen through the map while igniting my lightsaber...ugh..just ugh.

I think it was a flawed formula, some really good story elements, some really good gameplay, at times. I got frustrated, but I made it through and it kept me wanting to play and I think they will refine and the next one will be more terrific. It was just nice to have a good Star Wars adventure game that didn’t start with “Lego”...

Recently beat the CoD:MW2 campaign on veteran, but I've already had to drop this to the lowest difficulty. I've never played a game on the lowest difficulty. Not sure how much longer I can stick with this one...

Yeah, I got off Zeffo and went back to Bogano to find some more secrets then finally went to Kashyyyk which was a cool change of pace. Climbing up the AT AT then taking it over was a lot of fun, and it was neat seeing Saw Gerrera.
I may invest in a player's guide but I'm determined to see this through.
Also pretty cool having a green, double lightsaber.

All the comments about control issues are surprising to me. I don't recall ever having an issue with controls. There was one of those sliding parts where I missed a jump maybe 6 or 7 times but with how quick it reset, that only took maybe 5 minutes total. Interesting to see polarizing thoughts; I really thought this game would be liked by basically everyone.
If you're having a lot of trouble with backtracking, maybe make sure you've opened up all the shortcuts available?

Yeah, even with the map, it’s just hard to keep a mental picture of where I am on the worlds.

We cut the cord a long time ago and don't watch much terrestial broadcasts. Also, I hadn't really been following the buzz for this game, so I'm really going in blind.

Well, I plowed through and finished the game yesterday and it's back in the case and put away. Once I had all the abilities and a good chunk of the skill tree it was actually a fun game. I actually started to feel pretty badass. However, getting to that point was tedious and annoying (as evidenced by my previous posts). The map was a constant nightmare throughout.
The story did nothing for me. With the "character reveal" talk I thought it was going in one direction but it just kinda petered out in the end. I thought they were going to tie this into Rise of Skywalker and reveal Cal as Palpatine's son. That would have made the journey worth it.
As for the reveal itself, I'm not even positieve I know what the references were to. I guess it was
If so what a dumb ass thing to be hyped pre-release to withold review copies and work fans into a tizzy. It was nothing more than a glorified cut scene. Maybe if you actually got to fight this character it would have turned out differently but as it stands, pretty lame.
