This came out today, to many high reviews.
Any one bite?
I'll probably get it, as soon as I whittle down my backlog.

I played the demo or beta (whatever it was) on PSN a week or two ago and it felt like samurai Dark Souls. I died and started over a lot in the short time I played, so I deleted it and moved on

Yeah, I'm also apprehensive because I'm hearing that it's even harder than the "BloodSouls" games.
Those were hard enough for me!

I am very excited for this game, but my back log of games is out of hand. I told myself no more new games until I get caught up, or Mass Effect comes out...lol
The game looks amazing.

A friend of mine has been playing a review copy for about a week. He says it's significantly harder than the souls games but the combat, enemy AI and level design is better. So if you're into that sort of thing....

This looks badass. But then these games usually sound better in principle to me than they do in execution.

Even though I'm right in the middle of Dishonored 2 (and Crysis 3, Hitman, and Stardew Valley), I went out and picked this up today. Hard game to find actually.
I haven't played much, just the prologue, tutorial, and half of the first proper level, but so far it's awesome. Sounds like the majority of the game is really good, but the bosses can be downright cheap, so I'm really happy you can summon other players in to help.
A lot of reviewers have said the mechanics and systems can be overwhelming, which seems like it could be the case. Changing stances is cool, but so far I haven't really needed to do it all that much. I forgot what weapon I chose (the blade at the end of the chain), but I use it primarily on the low stance and it totally wrecks shit. It's great.

Wanted to bump this because the game is just fucking terrific. Combat is so, so satisfying. I'm still using the blade/chain thing, but I supplement it with a nice spear I found a while ago. Right now, my favorite thing to do is block break an enemy in my mid-stance, then switch to low-stance, bash out a quick combo, vault over their goddamn head, then finish them off from behind.
Two things off the top of my head that I'm not a huge fan of:
1) the loot. The good stuff is fine, but there's just so. much. garbage. And there's not a great way to bulk sell or dismantle.
2) the bosses. A lot of reviews said they walk the line between balanced and cheap, and they were right. I'm only on the 3rd one, and it's pissing me off something fierce. Got it down to 1/3rd health, so I know it can be done.

So far this strikes me as a more accessible Dark Souls / Bloodborne game, keeping in that Metroidvania style gameplay (open shortcuts/entries to new places, enemies spawn after every death) of those titles.
The core game is easier and the gameplay a little more refined (It isn't floaty like Dark Souls, it isn't slow-ish like Bloodborne) but the bosses are just as frustrating as Bloodborne, but not nearly as satisfying. The setting is alright, a lot of it does remind me of the 2004 Ninja Gaiden game.
So far it's a pretty fun game, it just seems a little unpolished.

It's no Dark Souls, but then again nothing is since Dark Souls is the GOAT, but it is VERY similar and a very cool game in its own right.
I really wish there was a way to lock the camera behind you instead of constantly having to adjust it with the right stick. That is the reason I could never get into the Saints Row games.

Bloodborne was one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. One of the reasons I was hesitant to pick up Nioh was people comparing it to Bloodborne. Glad I did though, it's a really good game. Anyone that's played Ninja Gaiden Black shouldn't have a problem with the difficulty.

I'm picking this up since I would like another Ninja Gaiden. Too bad that Tecmo kind of ruined the Ninja Gaiden series with 3 and Z.

The last few days, I've been playing a few hours of Bloodborne and a few hours of Nioh. I guess I like to torture myself.
Anyway, I'm at Onryoki (the first boss, not including the Prologue). Can't beat him yet... but I will. Oh, I will.
Beautiful game, too. Looks great on the PS4 Pro in Action Mode.

I haven't been able to get past him either.
The revenants are hard as hell, even level 1's have been handing me my ass a lot of the time.

When you beat a revenant, is their marker gone for good, or does it come back when you respawn?
