Did any of you guys watch the Kingsglaive movie? I heard from a few places that it helps make the story make a little bit more sense and i'm curious if it's worth watching.

I didn't. But your "supposed" to watch it before playing it so that that first huge CG attack scene makes sense and so that you understand the Noctis motivation. Way to innovate Square-Enix.

Yeah, I heard that it sets up the universe quite a bit so that everything makes more sense going in to the game.

I guess it might be too late after the fact, but i'm still interested enough in the world that i was trying to see if it would at least be a fun watch and make me appreciate the game a little more.

If having to choose, I'd suggest watching the Brotherhood anime rather than KG.

Re: Final Fantasy XV Discussion Thread (Sep 30th, 2016 / PS4, Xbox One)

Okay, I am on chapter 2 and the game is starting to get goofy. First off, my "potion" is greyed out so I cannot heal my characters. Also, before when a fight was done my teammates would gain their HP back rather quickly.

All of a sudden though, they are gaining HP back at a rate of about 1hp every 2 seconds. What gives? I was in a random battle with drop ship imperials and they knocked my around a bit. Now I am sitting here forever waiting for HP to climb back up because there was another imperial drop ship right after the first that I had to run away from.

Why can't I use potions and why isn't my HP returing after a battle?

This game sucks at explain stuff...and yes, I did the tutorial.

EDIT: I have also gone from rarely losing in combat to getting my ass kicked by imperials at my level or below because they have 60 snipers off in the distance. By the time I get over to them half my team is dead.

In an Active Time Report video presentation last night, as translated by Gematsu (which you can watch below), Tabata promised:

1) a patch on February 21 that’ll raise the level cap, add “limited time” hunts, and boost the game’s framerate and resolution on PS4 Pro

2) a patch on March 28 that’ll improve Chapter 13, to launch alongside the Episode Gladiolus DLC

and 3) off-roading for the Regalia, a feature that I guess people wanted?

Re: Final Fantasy XV Discussion Thread (Sep 30th, 2016 / PS4, Xbox One)

So I hate fishing in real life, and I think I hate it in FFXV as well.

Any tips on fishing (Xbox One)? I have been fishing for almost a full game day and haven't come close to catching one. I must be doing something stupid and hopefully it'll click but right now it's F'ing Frustrating.
I'm in the very first fishing place.

I cast, I intermittently use RT to reel in somewhat randomly. Eventually I get a bite. When the icon comes up I have tried moving the left stick pretty much all ways I can think of - fast and hold, slow and hold, repeatedly quick, repeatedly slow, just once, while reeling, while not reeling. The most I've held a fish is about a second and a half.

I'm about to have Noctis throw the damn rod into the lake.

Hmm, I don't recall having to do anything crazy for fishing except for the crazier fish in later quests. Once a fish bites, I basically point in the direction that it tells me to and reel in until I see the tension marker appear and let go, while still holding the right direction.

Re: Final Fantasy XV Discussion Thread (Sep 30th, 2016 / PS4, Xbox One)

OK with the help of about my fortieth Google search I found the problem -
Guitar Hero Live dongles. They apparently block you from landing a fish (?!?!)
With them I would never get past the initial "A fish is interested in your lure!" and the first time the L stick icon came up, it wouldn't take any of my inputs no matter what I did.
Removed them from the XBone and caught my next fish - a 23 pounder.

Still not a fan of fishing but that might be because of that initial long frustration - but at least now
Spoiler:
the cat's been fed.

Final Fantasy XV Spin-off Game “A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV” Will Be Available for Free in March

Previously available only as pre-order bonus, King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV will become a free download on March 1st.

Giuseppe Nelva

Remember the Final Fantasy XV spin-off game “A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV” for PS4 and Xbox One, that was released exclusive as a GameStop pre-order bonus?

The game will be made available for free on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store on March 1st, featuring a fairy tale told by King Regis to his young son Noctis, starring Regis himself, alongside Cid and Clarus and Weskham.

The game is a pixel-art side scroller, featuring the following:

Deep Combat System – Combos, counters, and Regis’ signature “Warp Strike” combine for lightning fast real-time combat that rewards fast reflexes and smart tactics.
Companions – Three distinct companions offer unique and new ways to attack as well as tailored super moves that deal massive damage.
Magic – Ignite the battlefield, freeze your enemies, or electrify your foes with Fire, Ice, and Lightning magic.
Summons – Call upon epic Astral entities to decimate your foes in jaw-dropping ways.
Incidentally, the press release we received from the European distributor Koch Media did not clearly mention whether the game will be free for everyone or just for those who purchased Final Fantasy XV.

While logic would suggest the latter, wording appears to indicate the former. In order to make sure, we contacted Square Enix for a clarification on this point, and we’ll keep you updated on this whenever we receive an answer.

I finished this up this weekend...it was so beautifully flawed and broken and wonderful all at the same time. Easily one of the best games of last year...

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition coming out on March 6.

https://www.finalfantasyxv.com/en/royal-edition

An all-new dungeon - Insomnia City Ruins: Expanded Map

New features such as first person mode, new gear, and new bosses.

Armiger Unleashed – after you collect all 13 royal arms, a more action-oriented mode of the Armiger is unlocked

Royal Vessel – the boat from FFXV is now a controllable vehicle. The same body of water (between Cape Caem and Altissia) can now be freely explored.

All season pass content – Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades, and Episode Ignis.

Over a dozen pieces of DLC, including weapons, Regalia car skins, and item sets.
The PC edition also comes out on that day.

I should try to get back into this one. IIRC I still had 1 or 2 of the extra dungeon areas (behind the doors) and never tried any of the DLC. I'm sure I'd have no idea how to play anymore though.

I've tried to get back into it a few times, and I just have such a hard time getting past the character designs. Maybe after Xenoblade 2.

Hopefully all of that Royal content is available as DLC. My daughter has been keeping up with the game, so she'd want the new modes for sure.

If you already own the game, the Royal Edition will be available separately for $19.99.
