Finally! JKG/Yoda/Plo Koon. Basically did what you'd expect: took out Plo, then just focused on Yoda until he was gone and JKG had to deal with QGJ, Lumi, and JC. Sadly, Eeth and Mace fell. I was lucky in that I got some evades and just-in-time heals.

But, it's possible without Barriss! With her, it would have to be a breeze.

I think the standard rates apply to Yoda like anyone else. You need a good mix of:

1) Healers
2) DPS
3) Turn Manipulation
4) Luck

Don't feel too bad. There are people who claim it took HUNDREDS of attempts to beat Yoda. I'm close to getting a shot at 6* and I'm not entire looking forward to it....

I won't admit to staying up until 2:30 last night trying over and over again. I wouldn't say it was 100, but it was probably more than 50.

Mace drops seem much higher than JC. To get from 5 to 6 with JC took about a month. I went days sometimes with only 1 or 2. I'm praying for a bronze Mace drop for 32 shards.

I will get QGJ and Barriss to 7* along with Lumi and JC too but man, I'm really not looking forward to grinding out another 185 Mace Shards. I would pay for a pack at this point, honestly.

So I found the key to winning any Arena fight:

QGJ goes first. Assist follows. Sid cleans up with AOE. Lumi heal following Sid AOE (heal + 2 more over time). 86 goes with assist. Now it's 3 vs. 5 with 2 heals to go. Game over.

Almost boring at this point. If the team I'm going against has Sid, no matter who else they have, I will win.

Now, this is a TERRIBLE defensive team. So typically I have to build back up from the dungeon but I can win anything they throw at me. Thinking about putting in a defensive team for my last battle to see if I can stand position. Thinking about:

Phasma (L)
Fives
Poe
GS (need DPS of some kind)
Lumi (great combo of offense and heals)

This may at least keep people from thinking I'm fresh meat.

I have been using Arena tokens for Ventress b/c nothing else really to do but I suppose I will now refocus efforts on IG-88. I think I should be able to get 86 to 6* by the tail end of the event but the real issue is HK-47. He sucks and he also competes with 88 for Arena shards. No other ways to farm 88/47. So that being the case, I may just have to allow myself to cap out at 5* of this but I will probably horde Arena tokens for the time being just to see what happens. Hopefully there is a promotion or something to get extra droid shards b/c I don't know if I really want to do much more with droids other than 86.

I just finished the 4* Yoda tier. Not very difficult. But that nearly constant foresight was annoying. He moved so often that he made the dark side 5A hard battle Chewie seem like an inert lump. If only I could get those boss versions on my squad. Run them as a duo in arena. Surprise some folks.

I still need to get 2 of my Jedi to 5*. Maybe next time.

This really has nothing to do with EA/CG. Google approached them about taking part in the promotion and they agreed to do so. Apple never does stuff like this, so blame Apple, not EA.

Now, if you want to call them greedy for that ridiculously overpriced Jedi package, you'll hear nothing from me.

In other news, I decided to go for broke and see if I can get Mace up to 6* before the end of Yoda event. I'm at 40/85 with just over four days left. I don't think I can get there but its worth it as even blue geared 5* Yoda at L60 is pretty damn awesome.

I like him. In arena, if I face Dooku and/or Daka, the first thing I do is spend his turn for tenacity+. This saves everyone from the dreaded stuns. Bonus is that Sid also can't heal-block anyone. Not attacking first is a small price to pay, especially when QGJ is next and he's going to call in an assist anyway.

My rank has held pretty well the last two days. Got up to 34 and only dropped to like 66 instead of 166. Climbed back up easily enough today.

Though, now that I'm sitting on 6,400 tokens, I don't know how much longer I'm not going to spend them on Ventress. Maybe I'll do one purchase every day and stockpile the rest until we hear about this rumored addition to the shop.

Reached a point today where I have the shards to promote Lumi but not the currency. That's a first! Wow, takes a lot of currency to level up a character.

Any advantage to not activating a character immediately? I've got Sidious ready to go (and some extra shards, too) but haven't done it, yet, while I work on some other characters. Advantages or disadvantages to continuing to collect Arena Battle shards for him and keep him on ice?

Only if you do what I did with Barriss. I had her at 145 shards (5*) but collected about 20k in ally points to see if I could get her that way. She's a 4* drop, meaning 80 shards for free. While I was saving, I opened her in a free one, lol. Lumi would give you 32 free shards but I don't think that Sid is a bronze drop. So really, I wouldn't bother. Lumi is a GW/Arena mainstay so I say get her up as soon as you can.

Here are the update notes for 3/15/16.

General

Droids Fight Back Event (Google Play Exclusive) – in this limited time event players will be required to form a squad of at least 3 droids to face off against the Jawas. The first tier of the event requires the player droids to be 2 star, the second tier 4 star and the final tier 6 star. Players who can complete the event will be rewarded with various prizes, including the chance to receive droid character Shards!

Darth Vader has had his stats increased if players raise his star tier to 6 or 7. Before, 6 and 7 star Darth Vader characters had reduced stats due to an exploit that allowed players to receive extra Shards for him. Now that those players are no longer a concern, we have increased the power of 6 and 7 star Darth Vader to its rightful place.

The Sullust environment can now be seen in game! It’s smoke filled skies and flowing rivers of lava make for a new exciting place to battle.

Deal Physical damage to target enemy. In addition, Chirpa gains 20% Turn Meter if that enemy had more than 50% Turn Meter.

Special #1:
Ancestral Secrets
All allies recover 10% of their Max Health at the start of their next 2 turns. Ewok allies also gain Retribution for 2 turns, and recover Health for 1 additional turn.

Special #2:
Tribal Unity
Grant all allies Speed Up for 2 turns, then call a random Ewok ally and one other random ally to Assist. These Assists deal 70% less damage.

Leader
Simple Tactics
Ewok allies gain 10% Turn Meter whenever they perform a Basic attack, and other allies gain half that amount.

Characters

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Old Ben) – character shards can now be found for Old Ben in Cantina Battles 2-F and 6-B in addition to Chromium Packs.
Unit Descriptions – the descriptions for a number of characters have been updated to better describe them.

Magmatrooper – Shards for Magmatroper can now be obtained from Chromium Packs.

Ahsoka Tano –
Despite her solid offensive stats, Ahsoka has been underperforming due to her unreliable survivability, compounded by low Speed. Her kit has been revised to give her a chance to shine.

Basic – Energetic Slash
Deal Physical damage to target enemy and Ahsoka recovers Health equal to 6% of her Max Health, increased to 9% on a Critical Hit.

Special – Protective Maneuver
Deal Physical damage to target enemy. If the target has 50% Health or more, all allies recover Health equal to 10% of Ahsoka's Max Health. If the target has less than 50% Health, this attack deals 25% more damage instead.

Leader – Quick Steps
Jedi and Nightsister allies have +10% Evasion.
NOTE: This ability’s Evasion bonus is unchanged, but its major upgrades now cause each affected ally to gain Turn Meter when they Evade, not just Ahsoka. The Turn Meter gain has been reduced to account for this.

Unique – Daring Padawan
Ahsoka has +25% Health and +25 Speed. Whenever she suffers a Critical Hit, she loses one of these effects (in reverse order.) Whenever she scores a finishing blow, she regains all of them.

Bug Fixes

Rex’s Squad Discipline now gives the correct amount of Turn Meter to non-Clone allies.

Rex’s Squad Discipline now grants Tenacity up to all allies instead of just himself.

The bonus DoT effect applied by Darth Sidious’s Demoralizing Blows on a critical hit can be Resisted.

HK-47 no longer gains Offense Up from Superior Firepower before the damage is calculated.

Geonosian Soldier no longer gains Offense Up from Aggressive Advance before the damage is calculated.

Multiple characters previously had abilities where their damage would decrease in some cases when upgraded instead of increasing. This has been fixed for the following characters

The Dispel effect on Teebo’s Bring Low ability can no longer be Evaded, just like the damage.

Old Daka can no longer Revive herself with Serve Again.

Several characters had stat-boosting effects in their Leader or Unique abilities that could be copied by Grand Master Yoda’s Masterstroke or Battle Meditation; they have been corrected.

Tier two of the Profit Mining event is no longer accessible by players under level 70.

Princess Leia’s Critical Chance Up effect now expires at end of encounter.
Additional things being worked on:

DoT effects being able to defeat an enemy is still being worked on and will be implemented in a future major update.

More characters will have their outdated unit descriptions improved in a future update.

More character bug fixes.
