Well I just encountered a massive whale in my server's PVP arena. This guy was L37 and ranked in top 250 with a power level 1k below mine so I figured, easy pickings.
Until I saw he had:

JC
I couldn't quit fast enough. Although maybe in retrospect I should have let him beat me to try and friend him for allies. He easily spent $500 on the game so far. You have to buy Leia.

While I've spent money, I haven't dropped anywhere close to $500. I can tell you though that I've burned through $100+ on iTunes cards I had laying around. In hindsight it was a waste, because since the premium characters aren't farmable, they will be replaced once I get high enough. Currently, I'm hovering right around 100 on my server.

Is Rey ridiculously over powered or something? Just fought on a team that had one that was like level 38 in GW, and she was hitting for 1500 damage, 2500 crit. Fucking stupid.

This thread has been a huge help learning the details about this game (and having high level help with battles)!
Funny story - worked my way up to level 35+ and to about 500 on the arena leader board without realizing that there were Arena Shipment you can purchase too, so started way too late buying Sidious shards. Have 4K+ arena tokens, so just need to remember to go buy shards every 6 hours.

She definitely is. Also my server is getting tougher by the day. I used to be able to breeze through the first 6-7 GW battles. Now even the lower 30s teams I'm seeing have major premium characters. Luckily I'm really close to unlocking Lumi, DS and Poe and when that happens I will tear a new one into these people as I'm beating them now with largely free players.

Luckily I've been able to hold onto top 2500, that's good enough for me. It is getting harder though, before I could drop down into the 1200-ish range now I'm at closer to 2000.

I would have had DS tomorrow if not for these arena interlopers dropping me sub-200. I will be taunted by 300 tokens all day Thursday until 6pm when I believe I should be able to unlock him. Lumi is going to take longer than anticipated due to GW suddenly becoming much, much harder. Poe probably by end of month, catina tokens take forever to build up.

I'm in this weird limbo of wanting to shard/gear grind for lower-priority characters versus re/playing missions to 3-star for the ability to sim higher gear for my top dudes and advance to new shard opportunities.
The problem is though that it costs 16 energy per attempt! Lumi and JC are bad ass enough to roll, but Poe and Luke are a little too squishy to always survive (so far, so good) unless I can borrow a Barriss as a safety net.
Of course, I can't do much on Dark Side until I get Daka now because I have exactly 0 reliable healers over there. This is why my current Cantina plan is to unlock Daka (31 to go) before beefing up Poe.
On top of all of that, I want to keep progressing the gear on Poe and Phasma and Boba because I'm going to need them to step up their game on the Light & Dark sides, respectively.
It just sucks getting one attempt every 96 minutes.

I got some unexpected reimbursements which I was going to use for the Heroine pack. Barriss and Ajaii for $50 is a bargain considering the time sink to get them. Then I read this:

Another tip I have - buy all the gear in the shipment boxes no matter what it is. Credits really aren't an issue in the game. You never know what you buy may help you later. It's a very small investment vs. energy.

I started playing this right before Force Awakens came out and I'm addicted. Haven't been this hooked on a game since Heroes of Might & Magic III. It's pretty crazy. Fortunately I haven't spent a dime on the game even though I've been tempted too.
Right now I'm at level 56 and my main team I run with is Sidious 6*, Luminara 5*, Phasma 5* & Consular 4*. I also have Boba Fett, Mace Windu, Talia & Jawa that I rotate in for some matches. I'm currently working to get Kylo Ren, Count Dooku and Old Daka unlocked.

Crystal subscriptions are coming back. 21 days of 100 crystals each. The are saying it will be 2/3 of standard price, so I assume it will be around $14.99 or so. Have to buy at least $4.99 of game currency (packs, crystals, etc.) to qualify.
I may give this a shot to help for a short term boost.

I... I am not good at this. I enjoy it, I like it. I tend to do really well or just terrible. Can't tell if that's because I keep trying to play games right up to my characters' ability or not. I just hit Level 40 today so I'm entering the Galactic War phase and we'll see what this adds to the game.

You can get 2800 for $19.99 now and 2100 is 75% of that which would be $14.99. So 2/3 of that would make it $9.99. I might bite for that, even though the additional $4.99+ purchase kind of dilutes it.
Maybe I could go for $30 to get 2800 now and 100/day for the next three weeks. I might get drunk enough to do that one night.
