Over at Gamespot they have some extra highlites of E3 and there's an extensive in game demo (about 10 minutes) they show with commentary from THQ. This is way much better than the offical trailer.
They mainly highlite two weapons...the Neo Forge and Magna Gun against unhuman enemies. Right off the bat I got a sense of Bioshock atmosphere with lots of dark colors and isolated lighting but in a wider space. The Magna Gun is something to see in this video as it's two stage gun. You first have to fire at an object like a concrete barrier and then shoot again to where you plan on throwing it.
Still a ways off (March 2011) but a good video of seeing it in action.

The game is showing a late May release and just up is a new co-op mode Infestation with four players. The graphics are impressive and the game play is fast. This is off the PS3 version showing just one map. There is also a "defend" mode.
Here's a link over to the offical site where they invited several of the press to play and comment on the mode. Everyone from IGN, Gameinformer, Shack News, Games Radar and Joystiq. Pretty good reading and how they thought of the mode.

Re: THQ - Red Faction: Armageddon 03/2011
I loved the first game years ago, but didn't like the second one when I tried it.
When they announced the new third-person gameplay for Guerilla, as well as its new focus on worldly destruction, I was on the fence and decided just to rent it. Ended up buying it eventually because I liked it so much.
Once again, I'm on the fence with regards to this one. I'm not sure about the underground setting. Though more recent footage has swayed me more and has given me more interest in it. I'm looking forward to playing it, as I'm sure it'll probably prove my doubts wrong yet again.

Played the demo tonight. Meh.
It just felt boring to me. I want my RF to be epic and chaotic, not confined and dark. I never played an RF game before Guerrilla, so I can't say if it's back to its roots, but it just felt like a less stressful Dead Space. I found the repair-everything-you-destroy gimmick a little hokey for my tastes. Why bother having the stairs be destructible if there's no benefit or penalty? It's not like the enemies need the stairs, they're jumping all over the place anyway. Just seemed odd.
Though the mech suit at the end was fun, maybe the whole game should be like that. No boss battle

I haven't DL the demo yet. I had this as my first choice this month but I have several friends I play with that are getting Brink. And after seeing more of it in action and getting more info on that game I'm getting it instead. Mainly due to it's overall style and the fact it has MP, single and coop play. RF won't have MP and the coop is restricted to a sort of "horde" mode and not story base.
I think the game will still be ok and the weapons alone will be a blast to use. I'll still wait and see after the first week of release to read the take on it.

but the only thing that keeps me on the list to get this is the game videos show much more open levels and battles than in the demos...so I still have hope..

Wow. What a horrible demo. Walking through narrow caves on a bug hunt. After playing that demo, I wish I had a preorder so I could cancel it. I'll wait until the post-release reviews come out. But if this game is all about shooting giant grasshoppers in a corridor, then I'll pass.

Yeah, the demo was crushingly boring. I don't like the whole "rebuild" on the fly ability either, makes the whole fun, destruction aspect of the game seem useless.

I've felt that way before. I downloaded the demo for this game but haven't bothered to play it yet. Sounds like I should just delete it and wait to see what the reviews of the game as a whole are like.

I've got enough on my plate already...finishing Lost Planet 2, still have Splinter Cell and now ordered Brink.
I still haven't DL the demo but I really need to and just play it. I really hope the game turns out and all. But one part is already bugging me a bit...it looks dark. Somewhat like when the last Aliens game hit. That was a big gripe. i'll play and see.

I didn't care for the demo at all. I did love the last RF - they should've just made a better version of that game, setting it on Earth or somewhere outside, big/expansive, and it would be a billion times better than what they've ended up with here.

Well I actually got around on the demo and to me it's not really bad. But it's far different than the other RF open world by a long shot. Graphics are better and the weapons are fun to play with. To bad didnb't get to use the Hammer but what was available was still cool. It'll be a wait & see on the reviews on this one.
I am surprised with the release tomorrow the lack of talk about the game. I hope it does fair well. If the reviews are good I might hurry up and finish Brink and trade that in. Hardly anyone is playing coop on there now.

Playstation Magazine gave it a 7/10. They said it was good, but "overstays its welcome" with dull filler stuff.

Joystiq's 2.5/5 review is up. Here's an excerpt that you didn't want to hear:
Bummer. I loved that last game, but was meh on this game's demo.
In Red Faction: Armageddon, developer Volition has run from everything that made Red Faction: Guerrilla great, and is left with a drab, heartless lump of competence for its efforts.

I sort of wanted to get the character maker for Saints 3 that comes with this, but it is not worth paying 60 bucks for a game that will be 30 in 2 weeks...especially since the coupon with it is only 10 off another THQ game....
