Edit: For some reason, the title went to lower case letters when I posted the thread. Maybe a Moderator could change the title? Thanks.

I'm just going to laugh if this game series is still stuck with the "6 guy in a ring at a time" rule.

I wasn't impressed with WWE 2K15 at all so it'll take a lot for me to even consider buying this one. I'll likely only get it on sale if it gets good reviews.

It is. They won't change that because they believe graphics are more important. So they bump up the look rather than add more characters on screen.

The dumb part of that of course is that 99% of the time the camera is at a distance where the added graphical improvements aren't able to be seen.

Re: Wwe 2k16

Yea, wrestling fans usually want fun gameplay over realistic graphics. I remember when Warzone came out boosting about the graphics being better than the THQ games ... the gameplay was shit while the THQ games had cartoon wrestlers made out of blocks but the games were fun as hell.

Personally I loved the look of Wrestlefest the best.

Re: Wwe 2k16

The Terminator? Really?

What's his finisher going to be, shotgun to the face?

And if it follows WWE closely enough, you'll still have to job to Cena or Triple H...or both.

Of course, this will give me the chance to FINALLY answer the question that has been in my head for decades: Who would win in a fight between a Terminator and Hulk Hogan? Oh wait...damn.

Sweet!! I'm not really a wrestling gamer, but having The Terminator on it might get me to pick this up.

The EA Sports UFC game had a similar gimmick last year with Bruce Lee as a purchasable character.

Agreed. It is just so bad to play and online is trash. I need a better story plot and back to WM 2000 game play (I believe that was the game).

Re: Wwe 2k16

Of course they will... who else would do it?

The new guy that sucks?, the old guy that sucks?

The same old Cole and Lawler commentary?

They have nothing!

Liked the ad and am a huge Schwarzenegger/Terminator fan, but not sure him being in the game sells me on buying it. Kind of cool but the novelty of playing as him against normal WWE stars will probably wear off fast.

Re: Wwe 2k16

Overall it sounds like the new game is taking some steps in the right direction to improve over last year's entry. I'm still going to hold back on purchasing it right away and will wait for reviews but I'm liking a lot of what that article mentioned. The roster size seems pretty good, hopefully there'll be a better Legends selection in this year's game.

Re: Wwe 2k16

2K sent the following fact sheet to PWInsider.com detailing the features and additions to the forthcoming WWE 2K16 videogame:

Largest Roster Ever: Offering more than 120 unique playable characters, including cover Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin alongside Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Bad News Barrett, Paige and Finn Bálor, WWE 2K16 includes the largest roster in WWE games history. The roster contains an unprecedented combination of current WWE Superstars and Divas, emerging NXT talent, WWE Hall of Famers and WWE alumni from multiple eras

Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator: Fans who pre-order WWE 2K16 at any participating retailer will receive two exclusive playable versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator:

T-800 from The Terminator and T-800 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day

2K Showcase: The franchise’s popular story-based mode returns in WWE 2K16, enabling players to relive iconic matches and moments in WWE history. Along the way, they will complete objectives to unlock legendary characters, entrance and ring gear, match types and unlockables.

MyCareer: The franchise’s career-driven mode, now in its second year, will see players define their legacies by making critical choices while rising through the ranks from NXT to WWE to earn a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. In addition, they will train, compete against others, conduct personality-driven interviews, interfere with rivals and/or form the ultimate tag team.

Creation Suite: Building on last year’s foundation, WWE 2K16’s Creation Suite deepens the player’s arsenal with new feature options, including Create a Diva, Create a Championship, Create an Arena, and Create a Show. Key improvements have also been made to existing fan-favorite offerings, including Create a Superstar, Create an Entrance, Superstar Studio and Community Creations.

WWE Universe: WWE 2K16 makes core improvements to stories, rivals and match card selections. In addition, for the first time, Superstars can be assigned to multiple shows, enabling players to have a broader experience.

Online: Completely overhauled based on fan feedback, WWE 2K16 will provide users with multiple ways to play online with the WWE Games community, including an improved matchmaking system

Soundtrack: Players can customize their in-game music through the addition of Superstar entrance music to the WWE 2K16 Jukebox. Additional in-game music will be announced later this year.

Gameplay Improvements: WWE 2K16 will build upon last year’s foundation, including key enhancements and innovations based on critical and consumer feedback, to deliver the strongest WWE gameplay experience to date:

Improved Controls: The controls and move library were overhauled to cleanly separate strikes from grapples. This change provides players with more control over the exact type of attacks they want to initiate in every situation. WWE 2K16 also includes new attack positions, such as seated, to increase options for how players attack while experiencing greatly improved attacks outside the ring near barricades. Opponents will now react more accurately to their environment.

New Reversal System: The reversal system has been reworked to improve the overall flow of the match and also create a new level of strategy during the matches. Each Superstar has a limited number of reversals he or she can perform that recharge over time, meaning players might not want to simply try and reverse every attack. In addition, WWE 2K16 introduces Major and Minor reversals for select moves. Minor reversals are easier to perform and only require a single reversal stock. Major reversals are more challenging to perform; however, they yield a much greater reward than damage. Successful Major Reversals weaken the opponent in various ways and provide a new way to swing the momentum of the match in one’s favor.

New Pin System: The new pin system starts with an entirely new pin mini-game and offers a variety of new pin variations and reactions. If the opponent kicks out, a Superstar may react to the near pin fall and gesture to the referee in frustration. In addition, WWE 2K16 introduces dirty pins and rope breaks. Dirty pins allow players to use the ropes to their advantage to try and pin their opponents. There is a chance the referee may see this and call off the pin attempt. Rope Breaks are another way to get out of pin attempt but rely on the referee seeing the player grab the ropes. In line with WWE live events and programming, there is no guarantee what the referee is going to see during a match.

Chain Wrestling: New positions and attributes allow players to distinguish Superstars from one other. There can also be ties during a lockup; during the tie, there can be a clean break from the tie-up or a cheap shot from either the player or the opponent.

Working Holds: Working holds are new for WWE 2K16 and provide players with a way to regain stamina while depleting their opponents’ stamina. Just like on WWE programming, Working Holds provide a way to collect one’s self in the middle or late part of a match and prepare for the next plan of attack.

Improved AI: WWE 2K16 sees big improvements to the AI for Superstars, referees and managers. For example, managers can now engage during matches by either trying to distract the referee or get his attention to help out in the match. In addition, significant changes are included for match-specific AI, including Tag Team matches.

More Match Types: Many match types of been added for WWE 2K16, including Ladder, handicap and tornado tag matches.

Dynamic Entrances: With the improved presentation flow for matches, players are now able to take control of their Superstars during the entrances and have the option to attack their opponents before the match even starts. Why wait for the bell? In WWE 2K16, players can decide when they are ready for action.

Additional Improvements: WWE 2K16 also includes an improved Submission system and a vast number of new moves to create an even more engaging gameplay experience.

Overall Enhancements: WWE 2K16 improves upon authenticity across the board, including:

New Commentary Team: For the first time, a three-man team is now a part of the franchise, with John “Bradshaw” Layfield, new to WWE 2K16 joining returning commentators Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler. Thousands of new lines were recorded, primarily in side by side studio sessions, ensuring authentic interactions among the trio.

Visual Upgrades: This year’s title features several thousand new animations. WWE Superstar and Diva appearance are also been updated, including implementation of a full cloth physics system, enabling attire to appear and respond as realistically as possible. Improved crowd variety, as well as more realistic sweat, better hair and hair physics round out the visual enhancements.

Broadcast Presentation: Gone are loading screens between entrances and the start of matches; instead, the camera pans the arena and over to the commentary team for thoughts on the upcoming match. Significant improvements were also made to overall match presentation and flow, including new crowd members.

Re: Wwe 2k16

Sounds pretty good. I'm glad they're bringing back the 2K Showcase. I think it was called something different in WWE 2K14 where classic WrestleMania matches were recreated but that was a fun game mode to play to unlock legends and old school arenas. Also a minor thing but being able to interrupt players during entrances sounds kind of cool. Really interested to see who they're getting on the roster this year.

"ach Superstar has a limited number of reversals he or she can perform that recharge over time, meaning players might not want to simply try and reverse every attack."

That might make online play a lot better.

Re: Wwe 2k16

WWE 2K16 Steps Into The Ring With Smart Improvements Over Last Year.

Even though WWE 2K15 was the first entry on current-gen consoles, fans expected more since it was released a year into the life cycle. So far, this year’s version takes steps to address the gameplay oddities that held the 2015 edition back. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know how it will stack up on modes.

Our first hands-on opportunity was limited to two multiplayer match types (1v1 and 2v2) and the first showcase event. With Stone Cold Steve Austin on the cover, it’s no surprise that the showcase experience starts at one of his pivotal matches.

In 1996, Austin and Jake the Snake Roberts faced off in the final King of the Ring match. Both had been injured earlier in the night, with Austin receiving stitches on his lip and Roberts coming off a brutal fight with Vader.

That night, Roberts limped to the ring, holding his injured ribs and dragging his pet python. That moment is recreated perfectly in WWE 2K16 and overlaid with a film grain filter to give the feel that you're watching an old match on VHS.

Of course, presentation usually isn’t lacking in the WWE franchise. It’s gameplay that’s unpredictable from year to year.

One of most important changes in 2K16 impacts reversals. In previous years, two adept players could go back and forth for what seemed like forever without doing much damage to one another. A good feel for the timing led to a string of reversals that were simply frustrating to watch and play.

This year, players won’t be able to simply rely on their sense of timing. Reversals are limited, and when your meter is empty, you won’t be able to fend off an attack until at least one bar recharges. The change brings strategic and pacing changes that are both welcome.

There’s also a new submission minigame that apes THQ’s old UFC series. A circular interface appears with a portion of the circumference occupied by bars colored in red and blue.

Players move their lines around the perimeter in a game of cat-and-mouse. The aggressor is attempting to overlap his line with the opponent’s, and the person subjected to the submission trying to escape by keeping his line away. It’s much better on your hands and controllers than hammering on a button to complete or stave off a tap-out.

The refereeing system has been tweaked. In previous years, players would automatically grab the rope if close enough during a pin or submission.

This year, you’ll need to manually grab the rope. However, you need to make sure the ref sees you. They aren’t omniscient entities with physical representations anymore.

The pin meter has been overhauled visually, but it operates similarly to past years. It’s now circular, with pie-shaped segments in which you need to stop the bar (now the circumference of the circle). As you get weaker, the wedge becomes smaller and may even jump around between attempts.

The stamina system and user interface seem identical to last year’s edition. Momentum is represented as a percentage, with specials and finishers operating in the same way as in 2K15. The inclusion of working moves gives you a bit of play with your stamina, though. Putting one on your opponent gives you the chance to recuperate while draining your foe.

In all, WWE 2K16 feels like a smart iteration of its predecessor so far. Until we learn what modes and features are being included though, we only have a small piece of the puzzle. Hopefully we’ll learn much more soon, as the October 27 release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 isn’t all that far off.
