Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

There is a point of no return where you have to finish off the rest of the game, but once done it spits you back into the world to so you can finish off side missions. So if you are trying to get the power cells for the final armor (which I missed), make sure you do that before continuing.

^ $26.99 in Canada ($20.24 w/ PS+)

I still have $80 CAD in credit, so I'll put it towards that, I guess.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

This game is great. I am level 24 and just got to Meridian.

I really want to upgrade my precision arrows quiver but I need a raccoon bone. I have been playing for quite a while and have explored almost the whole map (just one more long neck to go) and have only ever seen 2 raccoons. Plenty of boars/rabbits/turkeys/goose.....apparently the far flung future is not kind to those of striped tails.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

There's a menu option where you can create a mission to find missing components for upgrades. That'll make it at least a little easier. This might help too:

Man I just can't get into this. It feels so much like some of my favorite games (Tomb Raider, Far Cry, Arkham, Witcher 3) that I just keep asking myself why I'm not playing those games instead. Maybe playing this immediately after beating Rise of the Tomb Raider was a bad decision.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

I'm kind of in the same boat, but replace Tomb Raider with Breath of the Wild.

I really want to like this, and think the visuals are top notch and the story is interesting, but the game itself just isn't a lot of a fun for some reason. Had a similar issue with Nioh where I want to love it, but just kind of don't.

Man, that's odd to me. I enjoyed both Tomb Raider reboot games but I found this better in every conceivable way -- better story, better voice acting, better weapons, better progression, far more interesting enemies, much more massive map. I played through both TR games to the end, but I obsessed over this.
Different Strokes, I guess.

Beat this today

Just phenomenal, everything about it

Definitely one of my favorite games ever

Probably the most beautiful open world game ever made

Glad i didn't get the Shield Weaver armor until close to the end of the game, it's overpowered

It's impossible to get the shield weaver armor until the end section of the game.

Wish it was sooner, just because that's in the middle of a big game glut. Kind of a desert right now. Wish they spaced out releases better.

Uncharted 4 stand-alone DLC drops in 2 weeks. They probably want a good spacing between those two.

I can't imagine there will ever be a time where I'm in a game glut and don't have things to play.

Anyone picking up the DLC, The Frozen Wilds? Reviews are out and mostly positive, currently 82 on Metacritic.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

The game goes off sale from $27 tomorrow and really torn on getting this at that great price with BF just around the corner....and Frozen Wilds is $5.00 for Plus Members.

I watched a 10 minute playthru with the Devs today and it really looked good....

DualShockers...no score given but they did comment...."The Cut is no doubt the most beautiful area in the game"
https://www.dualshockers.com/horizon...wilds-preview/

Pushsquare.....8/10....as to the area, "And artistically, The Cut is, well, a cut above. Guerrilla’s really gone to town with its blizzard tech, but it contrasts the harsh winter environments with glittering sunsets that segue into rainbow coloured auroras."
http://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps...e_frozen_wilds

Playstationlifestyle......10/10......as to the map....."This new area, known as The Cut, is a vast, mountainous, hazardous, and, yes, frozen wilderness. Snow covers almost everything as far as the eye can see, while the game’s dynamic weather system has been tweaked to allow for snowstorms. Each storm comes at random, and has varying levels of wind, snow density, and even visibility. One storm was so intense during my playthrough that I ended up walking right upon a herd of Longlegs without realizing it. In between these storms, though, the forests are alive with activity. Geysers are a particular highlight, and the first time trekking through them is an unforgettable audiovisual treat"
