Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

Just fired this up and only got thru the opening cinematic. It's beautiful. So much so that I might spring for the PS Pro once I get my 4K projector set up.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

This is the first game I feel takes full advantage of the Pro. I'm using the frame rate setting in the game with boost mode enabled and the game runs beautifully without a hitch. Rolling around during combat while slashing dinobots with the sparks flying everything without dropping frame rate has been awesome.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

I just beat the game! Loved it!

Put in about 44 hours and ended up being Level 48. Taking a break for now and then going back in for a 2-3 Side Quests & Errands.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

For those who got the game a neat but glaring stat....

Horizon Zero Dawn Players Have Died Over 95 Million Times in Three Weeks

I still plan on picking this up down the road after finishing Ghost Recon, some Warframe and looking at the new Diablo update.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

I was super excited to get the last power cell, go back and put them all in, get inside the bunker and see the gear locked behind three more power cells

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

It looks like I'm at the final section. I was told to finish up side quests before proceeding. I'm level 41 and 31 hours in.

I would like to finish up the armor quest before finishing though. I'm still missing those three power cells though. Any idea where those might be?

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

At least 2 (and I think it might even be all 3 if memory serves me right) of the power cells are collected during the storyline missions towards the end. By the time I got the armor I had only about 2 side quest missions to complete. Best to get the main story over with and then move onto the remaining side missions.

This game never seems to end. I'm level 49 and over 40 hours in and still not done.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

And finished. Man, those last couple hours were amazing. Easily one of the best games from this gen. Never did get the armor, but didn't really have any issues in the last battle. Thankfully I bought a shit ton of blaze towards the end. I went through 200 on the final boss. Looking forward to visiting this one again later to finish the final couple side quests. Hopefully by then there will be some DLC too.

Ugh, I guess I need to buy this now. I've been playing Nioh almost exclusively, and while I don't love it, it keeps pushing me along, like I'm getting pushed to the edge of a cliff.

Been a couple of weeks since I completed it, but pretty sure I got the armor before the end battle. I think anyway. That armor helps a lot. Pretty much invulnerability for a short period of time when it runs out of had, but then charges up again after a short time.

And I know what you mean with that last battle. I maxed out all my ammo and gen bought a tonne of blaze in preparation. Great final battle.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

I finished this up over the weekend and was very pleasantly surprised by it. Usually by the end of an open world game like this, I find myself just checking off a list to wrap it up, but this was the rare title that I kept enjoying all the way through the end and wished there was more to do afterwards. My only slight gripe would be that the difficulty was a bit easy. Once you have rare weapons with mods assigned properly, it's pretty easy to tie down any machine, strip off its armor and light it up with fire or electricity and critical hits to its weak spots. And once you get the ancient armor, it almost becomes impossible to die unintentionally. Still, it had some great world building, good writing and a solid sci-fi plot and I'm definitely looking forward to the inevitable sequel.

I'm not that far along since I only play a couple of hours a week but what's with the exclamation points everywhere in inventory/crafting/... If I just move the stick to a specific inventory item, the exclamation point disappears without me doing anything else. What am I missing?

It just means there's something new in that menu you haven't looked at yet.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

Okay, after taking a long break to finish up Zelda, I jumped back into Horizon this past week.

Hate to pull an OldBoy, but can someone tell me how far I am?

I just finished the main story quest where
Spoiler:
you're captured and forced to fight in the arena and Silence comes to rescue you

FWIW, I've basically just been running through all missions, main, side and errands, in the order of their listed levels.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4

If you do just story missions from there, you can probably finish in under three hours.

Zelda

Not by a lot, mind you, but I just liked Zelda's world and gameplay better. It was more like a "toy", whereas Horizon is more like a "movie". Horizon certainly has the better story/characters (and that's not even close), but as far as what I play games for, Zelda was just more fun overall - it had more things to see and do than Horizon does. I do like Horizon's mystery and the way info was doled out, but it was easy enough to put the controller down. Whereas with Zelda, I had to really force myself to put the controller down instead of seeing what I'd find over the next hill. Even with the lackluster story, Zelda has a greater sense of discovery and fun that I appreciate more in videogames. Also, going back and forth - I kept wishing Aloy would have Link's abilities (especially his glider), but I never once thought about wanting Aloy's abilities for Link... except maybe her longer arrow trajectory

I finally fired this up on Thursday and already put almost 30 hours in. I love everything about this game.

Edit: Not sure why I quoted you Decker.

Count me in. I loved literally every second of this game and easily the best game so far of 2017. This is a series that will go from strength to strength.

I'm only 15 hours in, but I feel the same way.

A few questions for those that have finished it:
- Does the game END end, or is it like Tomb Raider where you can continue to wander after the main quest is complete?
- If it does really end, is there an obvious "point of no return" like in other games?

Thanks!
