Re: Horizon Zero Dawn - PS4
How important are doing the side quests?
I finally got to Mother’s Cradle, I think. Basically the hub, I would imagine. I was wondering where all the side quests were. I did like one or two, but those I got through main mission. Then I get to this hub and got like 6 or 7 side quests. I think I will do them so I can xp up, but wasn’t sure if they are absolutely necessary.
And my god does one shot killing a machine not get old, whether it be from an arrow or stealth kill. That lure call upgrade is great for stealthily killing some mechs.

I feel like the side quests would just open this world even more. It really is mind numbingly beautiful. Even if it doesn’t open wider there seems like there’s so much to do. And killing a Strider or Grazer flock hasn’t gotten old. Either melee or a precision arrow. So sublime in its execution. I can only imagine what the sequel and Burning Shores look and play like.

You people made me buy it
I played 45 minutes and I'm captivated with the story, I just got to the first quest after she grows up but I'm really invested in her and that rarely happens. But I'm going to leave it until after Jedi which comes out today and I want to play it first with everybody.

Ok. I can’t really play multiple games. I tried, but failure was in store. I try to stick to one game, finish it, then move on. Of course, I usually play most AAA years after release and why I get flamed here, but some times I play upfront. I’ll play a little of Jedi, but will probably stick with Dawn and Frozen Wilds. Then get to Jedi.

I'm going to just do jedi, I just wanted to do the intro portion. I'm playing jedi for free through ea play pro (well minus the membership) and I don't know if I'm going to like it or not. In a few days I'll try redfall but I'm not really into multi-player games so I don't know that redfall is for me. I've never played a star wars game.

I like how Aloy is written. She cuts to the chase, and has no problem getting pompous asshats to shut up. Only thing I don't like about her characterization is how much her head bobs around when she's talking.

The whole game is written well. It’s just an incredible achievement all the way around. I never noticed the head bob, but I bet I’ll notice from now on. 🤬 😜

It's possible she doesn't move her head around much in Zero Dawn. I'm playing Forbidden West right now, and her head is never still. It's not that big of a deal, especially in a game that is pretty much 100% catered to my tastes.

Yeah, I’ve been looking…no head bob in ZD.
It really is a game crafted for a little bit of everything anyone could want in a videogame. Definitely checks all my boxes. It’s hard (though not frustratingly so as of yet), but I’m loving it dearly.
