Where do you see time played? I looked everywhere and couldn't find it in the game.

My total time was around 13-15 hours but I did a lot of exploring (got all the gold bolts).

Yeah it was great. I'm always down for a good Ratchet and Clank game. I really enjoyed all the PS3 ones.

i assume you're excluding All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault? I don't really count those ones.

Yeah I completely forget about those one's. I never even played those. I don't play multiplayer games so those weren't even on my radar.

Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, A Crack in Time, and Into the Nexus were the one's I was talking about. I don't even think I ever played through any of the PS2 one's other than 1. I remember playing that back when it came out and thinking it was great but I don't recall playing any other ones. I bought the HD collection back when it came out but I only made it a couple hours into 1 and stopped playing and never went back.

I want to say that my first play through was around 8-9 hours. I did all objectives but one and only got 13 of 28 (I think) bolts.

Re: Ratchet and Clank (PS4, 2016)

This mirrors my feelings.

Ratchet & Clank Reminds Me That I Used To Smile When Playing.

Sometimes, we underestimate the dramatic changes we've seen in this industry over the past several decades.

And very often, we don't realize that as we get older and as the games continue to change (most have grown with us), we actually experience this hobby differently.

Sure, I was always enraptured when playing my RPGs. I wasn't sitting there with a goofy smile on my face; I was probably pretty intent on what I was doing and though I adored what I was doing, it was a different sort of adoration. It was a different sort of happiness. But as very few games these days are constructed like traditional RPGs, I don't experience them in the same way and as such, I react differently.

Same goes for most modern games when compared to "old" games like, for example, Ratchet & Clank. I never realized just how significant the change is until I sat down and played the recently released remake. After a few hours, it dawned on my that I had spent the majority of my time grinning at the screen. Then I asked myself- "When's the last time you did that?" When's the last time a video game elicited this feeling of pure, engaged entertainment?

Last year, my favorite game was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (and I actually hope Blood and Wine really does hold off until June, just so I have time to sink my teeth into it). I'd say my other favorites were Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Rocket League, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Until Dawn, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and The Order: 1886. All very different and yet, none of them had the same effect on me as R&C.

The point is, I can't remember the last time a game did have this effect. Just happy as a clam, running around, not wanting to stop, enjoying every ounce of the production. You don't have to think very hard about anything, there's nothing dark or gritty or dirty or grimy to get in the way of the carefree fun, and while there's certainly depth, there isn't enough to make you sit, lost in thought. No, this is just fun. And I've completely forgotten that video games did this at one point.
Certainly a breath of fresh air after 60 hours of Bloodborne.

Yep, my feelings as well. I rarely bother with trying to platinum a game, but I probably will with this one, just as an excuse to keep playing. I'm pretty close to the end, but am going back through all the planets with the mapomatic to clean up any collectibles I missed the first time on them.

I played All-4-One solo. It was fine, but definitely not as much fun as others in the series.

I hope this game sells incredibly well, and someone makes me a sequel to Whiplash. It's the only game I've found that had humor and fun at R&C levels.

I started this the other day, as a not so huge fan of R&C I'm not sure what I expected, but it's decent enough.

And it definitely looks fantastic

I personally want an MDK3 still.

This is the first time in the 3D era that I finished a game and immediately started the next playthrough.

First time was on normal; now I'm about halfway through challenge mode on hard. ...and I started playing on Friday! The race thing might keep me from a platinum, though, and I'll need a third playthrough for the Groovitron one.

Ugh. That game was a pain in my ass. Also, it had some of the ugliest art-design I've ever seen in a game.

I never had much of an issue with it on either terms, at least MDK2, I only remember bits and pieces of #1 anymore.

Ha. Boy, did that second playthrough scream by...! I wound up finishing the game twice in one day. 72% of the way through with trophies (mostly the random little ones like smashing lamps and riding catwalks), and I still need to get the omega versions of the Combuster and Predator Launcher.

I'll probably be finishing it again before too much longer.

Re: Ratchet and Clank (PS4, 2016)

Finished Ratchet and Clank for the third time in, like, 4 days. I wish there were some way to see what I'm missing for the Death by Disco trophy. I'd swear I used it against every type of enemy. I'm down to just that and the races for the platinum.

Finished it. And like all previous R&C games, I wish it went on much longer, like at least 5 more planets and 5 more weapons.

Re: Ratchet and Clank (PS4, 2016)

I finished it this weekend as well. Think I'm going to move on to Challenge Mode and play it again. Since I got the Racing and Hacking trophies I can largely skip those parts now. I just want to level up all those guns -- most are awesome at Level 5. I tried not to use my Bouncer too much, but did rely on it a ton on that final Boss battle.
Don't know if there's any point in watching the movie now since it looks like a lot of it is included here as cinematics, but I'm still taking my kids to see it this weekend because -- Ratchet & Clank!

I assume on Challenge mode you can still go and get the Gold Bolts you're still missing, as well as working towards completing the card deck. Is that right?

Correct. Everything not-story related carries over. (So you can still drown early on and won't have a jetpack, but you'll have your Map-o-matic, the crate basher thing you get for collecting all 60 brains, etc.)

My wife is about halfway through her playthrough, so Ratchet and Clank is close to having been finished 4 times in, like, 2 weeks. I'll probably pick it up again when the next patch drops.

Re: Ratchet and Clank (PS4, 2016)

I finished my second playthrough last night and started a third. I think I'll probably stop before platinuming it, but I do want to get all the weapons maxed and I think I have 5-6 left to do. I will say that the fully maxed Ryno is ridiculous. Just point in the correct general direction, hold the trigger and kill everything/anything. I'd probably go for the platinum except I really am not a big fan of the races and know it would take me a lot of tries to get those. And I Groovitroned the hell out of everything on my second playthrough and somehow still missed that trophy.

Re: Ratchet and Clank (PS4, 2016)

If you're stuck on the Rilgar race trophy, here's a glitch from another forum that worked for me:

The trophy requires you to finish the gold cup in first place in 1:30 or less. If you're in first place and have a worse time (say, 1:40), don't cross the finish line; quit the race via the menu, and the trophy will pop. With as easy as the Kalebo III race trophy is, it's nuts that the Rilgar one is so punishing.

I still have to play through the game one more time to get the Platinum (still trying to figure out what I missed with the Groovitron), and I'll do that as soon as my wife's finished with her first time through. Such a ridiculously fun game.

Too bad about the movie, though! It's rocking a 21% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Worth a buy or better suited as a rental?

I think it's well worth buying. It's ridiculously replayable, and I'm not even the type to go back and play games a second time (let alone four times in a few weeks!). Just brace yourself for a lousy story.
