Re: Splatoon (Wii U)
Got this finally purchased this past Friday, so far myself and daughter are having a blast. Only thing I don't care for is the forced TV broadcast. Is there a way to skip those? BTW, we picked Dogs for the splatfest.

No way to skip it outright, but you can speed it along by mashing A.

Can this game be played with 4 local players? I thought it'd be a fun family game but my son is telling me you have to play online only. I'll be bummed if that's the case.

You can at least do 2 player local and I assume up to 4 but the mode is different and not as fun as the online mode.

Unfortunately, Battle Dojo is always 1 on 1. There's no split-screen: one person has to use the gamepad, and the other's display is on the TV. The mode is awful compared to every single other thing you can do in Splatoon, though, so it's not a big loss.

Ah, ok. I played it quickly at a friend's place the other day. The mode we played was pretty boring.

I wish they let you keep leveling up past 20. Doesn't even really need to give you any rewards, other than bragging rights. But would give a bit more incentive to playing the regular battle mode other than just for more money.

Re: Splatoon (Wii U)
I watched my 11yo son take on DJ Octavio and rescue the Great Zapfish this morning. Intense little battle that was.
My kids are still enjoying the heck out of this game. They love the weapons, the levels, the gear... and they're getting invites from their school friends to play.
Still wish there was a better local multiplayer mode... but that's a small gripe. They are still sharing and taking turns.

So many weapons, maps, and updates that I've neglected to highlight here! Sorry for not keeping this thread more up to date. (Heck, I still haven't played Camp Triggerfish yet!)

Re: Splatoon (Wii U)
Two new weapon types...
SLOSHER
... for size.
SPLATLING
... for size.
More stuff explained here... http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/post/12...ds-lets-have-a
SLOSHER
Spoiler:
BREAKING NEWS FROM THE SQUID RESEARCH LAB! Our sources say that the “Slosher” is a new main weapon category being added with the August update. Weapons in this category look like buckets and deliver huge blasts of ink with each shot. Their shots also fire in an arc, making them useful for hitting opponents that are above you or behind obstacles.
Spoiler:
More breaking update news! The Splatling is a new main weapon type. After charging up Splatling weapons, they can spray a rapid-fire barrage of ink at blinding speed. While this charge time can be tricky to account for, few can compete with their attack power and shot range.
