Filling out the thing, I'm stuck on if I should commit to the PS4 version or the WiiU version...

Would be pretty cool to have the game map on the controller.

I still think the PS4 version might come with a PS Vita Cross Buy (though they haven't said as far as I know).

I'm thinking the same thing; though this game will be available digitally anyway, so I'm really tempted to get the WiiU for collectibility (will they even have WiiU retail releases by the time this comes out?) and old school Castlevania-on-Nintendo-Systems nostalgia. But currently I picked PS4.

I was under the impression that this game would be 2-dimentional, hand-drawn sprites (ala Symphony of the Night), but it looks like it's all polygons dressed to look kinda 2D. Pretty disappointed, as even with proper texture work, polygons on a 2D plane look flat and boring, especially the backgrounds.

I wouldn't say that. Some games have done well w/ it.

re: Bloodstained: RotN (Steam, PS4, XB1, Switch: 2019)

Well, I definitely prefer Background 1. The color palette for Background 3 just seems off.

As for the character, I'd pick Character 1, mainly because the non-outlined style fits better with the backgrounds. I think I'd be fine with either, but if Character 3 ends up winning, I hope they change the style of the background to make it more like the player. Actually I'd really like something in between, with outlines about half the thickness of Character 3.

They don't look that different in the gameplay screens, but Character 3 looks like it has some light source on it that Character 1 lacks, making it appear kind of washed out. It would be nice if these were in motion, as it's hard to tell without seeing how the light interacts with it.

Demo's solid!

Looks like we might have a winner here, and not another kickstarter dud.

Awesome to hear.
Where did you play the demo? Did you have to hit a higher tier to get it?

The demo is only for Windows, and you had to be in the $60 tier to get it.

Game Release update :

"To ensure the game meets his quality standards, IGA is bringing on additional developers and has moved his estimate for the game's release back to the first half of 2018. "

2018? I don't think I'll even be alive by then.

A legit Castlevania might come out before this one. I'd rather have that, even if it means waiting a few more years.

The WiiU and the Vita definitely won't be...

Well I suppose I could've/should've seen this coming, but I just received an email telling me the WiiU version has been cancelled, so they can focus on the Switch version. I wonder if they ever even actually began development of a WiiU version? Probably not. Sucks big time, as I have no intention of buying a Switch. As slow as "Bloodstained" is coming along, the Switch will likely be discontinued before the game is released. Time to ask for a refund, which they say will be sent at some undisclosed "future date." What BS!

It only taking 3 years from fund raising to completion is still a pretty good time line

It's not too surprising since the Wii U is dead. As far as the development time, welcome to the wonderful world of Kickstarter!

After contributing to multiple projects that took much longer then initially planned or turned out worse then I had hoped, I basically stopped contributing to these things.

Yooka-Laylee did the same thing. Canceled the Wii U version and replaced it with the Switch version.

Yeap, this and System Shock are the only "game" Kickstarters I have and I'm just waiting for System Shock to be delayed too (not to mention looks like there are shipping issues in Backerkit as well). I rather support Kickstarters for books at this point, they are way more reliable.

It could've been worse... you could have contributed to Mighty No. 9.

Looks way too "floaty", and I'm not digging the polygonal 3D models. They really should've gone with hand-drawn sprites.

re: Bloodstained: RotN (Steam, PS4, XB1, Switch: 2019)

Does it look like they changed the control since you enjoyed the demo?

True as it is that sprites are a better choice in certain cases, there is way too much mass-market pressure for anything resonably high-profile to go that way. Been the case since the PS1 days..

They sure could have done much better 3D graphics than these, though.
