I'm sure few of us have even heard of Momotaro Dentetsu, but it's a popular game in Japan, and after Konami swallowed Hudson they pretty much ticked off the creator/developer.

57 hours to go and the kickstarter has earned 3,977,666 dollars. Some of the goals left are
4m- Online Challenge mode
4,250,000-3rd playable character
4.5m-Prequel Mini game for PC/Consoles
4,750,000-Prequel mini game for handhelds
The YouTube channel added three more "Ask IGA" videos but I felt this was a better one to post...

It's odd that the "Prequel mini-game for portables" includes an image of the 3DS, but the main game apparently isn't being made for that.
It looks great so far, but I hope they change that HUD. It's just too big, tearing a corner out of the screen.
I hope we at least get to see what the $5 million thing would have been, although at this point it doesn't look like they'll reach it. I think that most people who were going to contribute have done so already.

Welp, I finally gave on the last day...I did $100. The fact that this sucker is clearing 5 million is crazy. Heck, it's one of the most funded projects on Kickstarter ever. Long live IGAVANIA!

I went for $60. Don't need the keychain, but liked the idea of getting a limited edition physical copy. Might be a waste of $30, but I can live with that.
Anyone remotely interested in it should probably splurge on the digital copy at $28 - especially now that you get the bonus prequel minigame included at that tier.
Hope it's PS4-Vita Cross-Buy like Mighty No 9 is.

If they make their target date at all, they'll probably be the first Kickstarter game to do so. (Actually that Quiplash game might still make its June 2015 estimate, but it's a simplistic game - almost like YDKJ DLC).

Thanks for the reminder! Backed at a tier higher than I probably should have backed (is the artbook hardcover or softcover?)

The Artbook ($150 Tier) is hardcover now -- that was a long-ago reached stretch goal
We are over $5,000,000 now. Really pretty remarkable. If they can sell almost 60,000 copies of a game in a month -- two years in advance of release, with no advertising budget at all and a majority of them at a $60 or higher price, what does that say about the games people are interested in buying and playing? Personally, I don't know but it seems like there's something there because I seriously doubt if this game had just dropped as a downloadable title on multiplatforms (the way Child of Light or Valiant Hearts did) that it would be making this kind of money.

I don't know. His name didn't help sell a lot of copies of Leedees on the Kinect and Harmony of Despair was considered a major disappointment despite his involvement and the official Castlevania name.
Sometimes that Kickstarter hype train gets moving and it's hard to slow down.

They really came through with some nice stretch goals here -- especially bringing the game to the WiiU, 3DS and Vita. While those particular ones are great, compared to some of the later goals, I think I'd prefer one that was "Hire a bunch more programmers and get the game out six months earlier" to most of them. Don't know if that sort of thing is possible, but it would be a nice bonus.

re: Bloodstained: RotN (Steam, PS4, XB1, Switch: 2019)
Possible reasons why this was bigger:
-PC/Steam release - there hasn't been a side-scrolling Castlevania on PC since the DOS port of the first game back in the 80s.
-Physical copies stretch goals.
-The Kickstarter air of "we're doing this the way we want to do it." Even HOD may have had Konami's influence/pressure
-A reaction to the feelings about Konami as a company in recent weeks. Some people may have felt compelled to back it to show support for "traditional" gaming.

I agree, though, if this was a physical release of a new IP with an expensive, separate LE, there would be some excitement but not this much. The kickstarter hype (and the fan involvement that it allowed) definitely carried this.

Yeah, even with the last minute surge I didn't think they'd hit 5.5 million...

For people that backed, the surveys where you give them your address and choose your platform are going out via email.

Seems a little early for those questionnaires since we're at least 18 months away from release.
