Haven't tried campaign or zombie modes yet but I'm having a lot of fun with basic pvp. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get back into a fps after years of not playing one but it didn't take long to get addicted again. Just hit level 30 last night.

Did not enjoy the campaign at all in this one, which is sad because I love the first two BLOPS campaigns. Too far in the future, too much nonsense.

I'm not feeling this game yet. I hope that changes. One thing I really miss from AW to this version is the ability to add some extra kickers to your killstreak rewards... being able to add "swarm" to missile strikes or "extra time/ extra bonus points" to UAV was a pretty cool option.

So I ordered this but haven't cracked it. Here's where I'm at.
1) I loved the SHIT out of BOPS II multiplayer. Prestiged twice, unlocked everything, just loved, loved, loved it.
2) Really didn't like Advanced Warfare. Hated the jump packs. I got so good with a sniper rifle in BOPS but transitioning to having to deal with everyone leaping 50 feet into the air means I had like 2 sniper kills after months of playing. I just can't lead them well enough though I was great at nailing them when they'd stay on the ground.
I know BOPS III has wall running but I'm just wondering, bottom line, if it's more like BOPS II or Advanced Warfare?

I tried solo on the Zombie Mode, game looks good but will have to find some more. For the life of me I could not find how to get more ammo. I did the walls, turned into The Beast and got new guns. I'm still in the ally....

It's sort of in between... you can jump boost but you can't boost dodge (although I find myself constantly trying to). I don't find the wall running thing to be that prevalent in practice or even that necessary. I think if you want BLOPS 2, this isn't really the game to transition to. You can, however, play AW with no boost packs and everyone is grounded.

I would argue the game is more in line with BO2 rather than AW. With that being said, it also does a terrible job at ripping off other games.
A lot of the mechanics are still in place that made BO2 great, but I do think Treyarch dropped the ball by only giving us a Pick 10. It should've been a Pick 13, similar to AW; especially with all of the new functionality in place. The guns are all well balanced and I love that weapon prestiging is now back alongside the camo challenges.
With that being said, some of the mechanics simply don't work. Halo 5 does boosting right as you're able to boost in any direction. The wall running is okay, but Titanfall did it a lot better by allowing you to hang onto walls in addition to the running up and down them. The Specialist abilities feel like Destiny, but I understand that its BO3's way of giving you a specialist scorestreak (in addition to your regular score streak) a la BO2 and AW. However, some of the specialist abilities are overpowered whereas others I still don't get what they're supposed to do. Having a tactical insert as a specialist score streak is kind of bullshit, but whatever.
I do love how Treyarch made the TTK even less (two-or-three shots and you're done) where standard core games now feel almost close to hardcore. However, I am disappointed there is no hardcore domination alongside the fact every hardcore game mode now has a respawn timer. Really?
Based upon my time playing the campaign, this might be the worst one yet. I really don't care for Zombies so .
If I had to rank the franchise post-Modern Warfare, it would go:
MW2 > MW > BO2 > MW3 > BO3 > AW > BO > WAW > getting punched in the face > Ghosts.

I jumped into MP for the first time yesterday and felt like this or better; a pig walking into a Barbecue Joint. It was basically Dead going around a corner, thru a doorway, looking out a window, walking along a wall, etc...if I lasted more than 15 seconds it was a miracle. I'd say about the majority are Level 26 to 38 with several above 40+. It took me awhile to even get to Level 5 but I stayed with it. I saw a few like me at level 1-7 and probably feeling like me as well.

My first few games were like that. I have sense gotten into the flow a little and am doing better.
-Shotguns have had their range (probably justifiably) dropped significantly. Running and shotgunning faces isn't as easy now. Especially since most guns will drop in a couple shots at this point.
-SMGs are all kinds of powerful now. Lots of bullets, decent range, character runs the fastest.
-Assault rifles are almost viable. I think this is the first time I have felt like they can almost stand up to a shotgun or an SMG. In previous games if you wanted some range but didn't need a sniper then an SMG always did better than an assault rifle. This game... maybe not.
-The Specialists are neat but not all the powers are useful. I like the girl with the bow. However the girl with the grenade launcher is so much better. The guy who glitches back in time is entertaining but I have only seen someone use the ability to really kill me once. I found the gravity spikes to also be pretty dumb. I am sticking with the girl with the Sparrow simply because I want to unlock all her stuff.
-Pick 10 is cool, but there is just so much to pick from now it feels extra limiting.
-Wall running is also decent but I feel like it gets you noticed and killed more than not. The speed boost though is great when trying to traverse the map.
-Jump pack is the hotness and I want it. I just partially wish I could click the stick to jet down faster to alter my verticality a little more erratically as well as land a touch more precisely.

Yeah, I'm at level 26 now since I started playing it Thursday night, so those folks that are in the 40+ range have been on it non-stop since release day.
Don't forget that you can buy rare and not-so-rare supply drops on the black market using your crypto currency points. I got a bunch of skins, badges, and a really cool machine gun (gotta wait until level 31 to use it) out of it. Certain items can also only be gotten via the Black Market dealer.

I just hit level 21 or 22... whichever one unlocks the first Specialist who wasn't open from the beginning. The girl with the pistol.
I am relatively unclear how you earn points to buy those packs in the black market. Effectively I just wait until I have 30 and get one to get a rare item.
So far it has just been a badge with a Yeti that said "1 of 6" when I unlocked it.

So is it a set number of points for match completion? Kills? Leveling things? Getting medals? I am just curious if there is anything that influences how quickly that meter grows. When I hit the mode there wasn't really anything that explained it other than to show where they are spent.

Vonderhaar from Treyarch has said it is strictly based on time played. You get a percentage bonus for wins as well. He also said if you plan on playing a lot you're better off spending 10 keys as opposed to saving 30 at a time.
My last common supply drop I received one common, one rare, and one epic item (animated weapon camo). I usually average at least one rare every other 10 keys spent.
