LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

In case you didn't have enough things to spend money on outside of Skylanders, Infinity and Amiibos!

I'd probably be interested if there was a PC version (don't have a current-gen console, and have no interest in one right now), and it was set up similar to the regular LEGO games. I got super into Infinity when it came out, but lost interest when the games weren't as exciting as they could be, and also the fact that 75% of the characters were only usable in Toybox mode.

I also hope they're not Kragle'd together, but they probably will be.

edit: I spoke too soon. Looks like you do have to actually build stuff.

I'm in for BTTF alone.

oh my, i am a BTTF fanatic. is this Wii-u only?

Love how the end of the press release says "No compatibility chart necessary." That's a pretty huge selling point since Disney Infinity marginalizes most of its figures and Amiibo functionality is all over the place.

Toys R Us sez $99.99. That may be a placeholder but sounds about right considering the confirmed UK retail price.

well, the list for infinity and skylanders was $79.99, and people were getting those at deeply discounted prices within weeks of release. i'd imagine it will come down in price significantly the closer to christmas it gets.

Plus, if you are a GCU member at Best Buy, it will bring the assumed retail price down to $79.99.

I will need to make room in my budget for this. Legos are life in my household.

I need to see some actual gameplay as I'm no longer going to be sold on toys alone. Lego stuff in itself doesn't mean anything to me and is way overpriced.

I agree, the game itself needs to be good for me to consider it, but if they make a Doctor Who set I'll be hard pressed to say no.

^ & ^^ I agree. It looks like it has potential but, being Lego, will be/is way overpriced. I'm also not sure I like the fact that the play pieces have to be assembled. Even if that's not a requirement for game play it means stuff will get "lost" or intermixed with all the other Lego pieces. More stuff to have to keep up with...

I just hope my 3 oldest kids don't find out about this. We will have to get it.

I'd argue that LEGO is NOT overpriced, because you are getting a quality product. You buy cheaper building toys and they're terrible. There's a reason people have LEGOs they still had as a kid. I have a whole bucketful we got when I was in elementary school from a kid in the neighborhood who was going to college, so he had them as a kid too. That was over 30 years ago now and my kids still play with them.

This thing looks awesome and I too am in for the BTTF set alone.

It looks awesome but is it a good game? Also, couldn't they do it without the toys?

No one knows if it's a good game yet. And of course they could do it without the toys, but they know they can rake in insane amounts of money by selling the add-on product.

The pic in the OP says 269 pieces. :)

So much this. Like others I was kind of 'meh (burnt out on Skylanders, Infinity & LEGO games in general) until I saw the BttF set.

Except LEGO sets the pricing standard. If LEGO charges $20 for a 250 piece set, that's what competitor's will charge, not the other way around. If Kreo sold a 500 piece set for $20, LEGO wouldn't bat an eye.
