It may have been slightly better with the new system, but nothing great. From what I understand, the amount of songs you have can make a difference (I've got over 1000, so that might be part of the problem.) I even moved all my songs to the internal drive with limited impact.

The calibration thing seems to be a new development, however. We'll see if it continues every time I start the XBOX anew.

I know not everyone has these issues...but it's widespread enough to be more than a fringe case thing.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

I dumped a good amount of money into this game recently (Rivals for $30 and the RB3 export for $15) and got to finally play a little bit of it on Friday. So far so good. It's a RB game. I also noticed some calibration issues, so I'm not sure if it's a projector thing or a game issue, but hopefully I can get that ironed out over time. I was also a little disappointed that my DLC and RB3 export isn't playable in the main campaign. Anytime I got to a set that was a build your own set list, those tracks were nowhere to be found. I guess that stuff is locked out for some reason?

I remember you mentioning the amount of songs thing before. I'm just under 600 so hard to tell.

I've been able to play those songs in the main campaign. I'm playing through it now for the second time. When you are choosing songs during a show it limits them to whatever category the show is (Hard difficulty songs, Bass heavy, etc) so you are never going to have every song you own available at every show in the campaign.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

Ah, maybe that's what it was then. I'll have to keep an eye out the next time I hit another one.

One more question. Unless I missed something, there was only one campaign option I could choose. How do I know if that is from the main game or the Rivals DLC?

If you choose "Go on tour" that is the main Rock Band 4 campaign. The Rock Band Rivals specific campaign is the "Rockudrama". It's quite a bit shorter.

More of The Cure!

Lord help me, I might pick up that Hootie pack

And FYC -- Wouldn't mind "She Drives Me Crazy". They wouldn't use Suspicious Minds a year after the Elvis version came out would they?

OK, it looks like I'm playing through the main campaign first then. Thanks.

Looks like this week's DLC is:

Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy
The Cure - Lovesong
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time

Confirmed. In for all 3. Hopefully they give a 3-pack bundle discount!

Ditto, though if there's no discounted bundle I can live without the Cyndi Lauper track.

Also there are two discounted bundles on sale this week on Xbox

Fueled By Ramen Pack 01 - $6.99 - 30% off
Iron Maiden Pack 01 - $13.99 - 30% off

Oh, this is good. This is really good. I want all of that.

Also, does anyone know why our crew is doing so poorly in the spotlight songs this week? Our scores don't look that much different from previous weeks. Is it just because we moved up to a higher tier and the competition is getting tougher?

Kelkee and I were discussing on the RB app. We don't really know how that is calculated.

It didn't seem consistent for me when I did stuff.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

A few factors I believe. Scoring mechanics are tight lipped at HMX they are not revealing how or what exactly affects scoring, and this week's songs are more difficult, plus more crews are ranking.

Apparently they are aware of some issues with how scoring works and are working to make it better/fairer/funner soon.

Also I am still confused as to what the Tier Status bar is actually displaying.
What are the pointers showing me and what does the number in the middle mean?

Besides the fact we are in the Demotion Zone.

Seems to me like one pointer shows a percentile ranking based on Spotlight scores, and the other shows a percentile ranking based on scores from all other songs that are part of the challenge. The number in the middle is the overall percentile ranking, but I don't know if it's just an average of the two other scores, or if there's some sort of weighting going on.

I'm pretty sure it's just an average.

I sure hope the Spotlight Songs aren't going to ONLY be RB4 disc songs because that'll get really boring, really quickly.

Also, they'd run out of songs in another 5 months or so, unless they just started repeating them, which would be a crazy thing to do. I'm guessing they're starting with songs that everyone is guaranteed to have, and they'll branch out to their most popular (and/or newest) DLC once the supply of on-disc songs is exhausted.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

I'm not sure how else they would do Spotlights without alienating people with no DLC.

If you are just getting into RB now you are pretty much screwed for DLC, unless you lay down the BIG $$$$$.

Right. They can't even include the Rivals pre-order DLC because it's not guaranteed either.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

From a business perspective, after 5 months, most of the people who will ever own Rivals will probably have purchased it. At that point, it makes a lot of sense to have at least one or two of the three spotlight songs for each week be pulled from that week's DLC releases. They need to push DLC to stay profitable, and this would be an extra incentive for their most dedicated fans (who are probably the ones that buy the most DLC as it is).

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

Agreed, but that's tricky. Do you pick all the DLC or just one from that week?

I would be happy if they got rid of Spotlight entirely and just did the weekly challenge songs. That's helping me play things I haven't in years.
