okay, it looks like most of those are a part of the Rivals preorder. Even though I haven't played RB4 much, I should probably go ahead and put in my preorder for the free tracks.

When is the cut off date for the free songs? It looks like the PSN Store is down again right now.

Amazon says it releases 10/18 so I would guess you're good up to 10/17 to qualify as a pre-order.

Has it been confirmed that if you don't pre-order rivals and buy it after release, you will get zero songs with it?

Harmonix is referring to them as "pre-order songs", so yeah, it sure looks that way. They said they didn't want to include any songs with Rivals because they didn't want to fragment the player base -- to have songs that people could only get by buying the expansion.

They'll have a 10-pack for $15.99 on release day.

I gotcha. That makes rivals a much less appealing proposition if not pre-ordered. The songs are fairly decent and not the normal in house band stuff you would associate with "freebies"

Also, that's weak logic on their part. Why not just include the songs with it and then sell the pack of songs separately?

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

Welp, I'll be back in the Rock Band 4 game come next week. My copy is making its way to me as we speak. Hopefully they worked out most of the early issues and most of my old DLC will be ready. I will be sticking to vocals to be honest (even though I already have a legacy adapter) since I don't want to screw up my lasik un-necessarily. But I've been missing it for sure and I'm eager to get back to a little singing (since being a parent limits any desire to go karaoke like I used to).

But Rivals is required for online multiplayer so it, by definition, creates a player base that can later be fragmented.

So I'll be honest here, I haven't really followed along enough to know what's going on with the different versions. I got the bundle with the dongle a couple months and haven't dug into it yet. Is the expansion adding anything worth getting right away or would we be good enough with the bundle we have now? I know you get the songs if you pre-order, but is that the big selling point?

Nice, I need more people to compare scores to. How are we not Xbox friends yet?

LOL, well we are now . (Check your TrueAchievement account too), but yeah I played RB3, 2, 1, etc countless hours...also Lips too. Basically if there is a Karaoke game prior to Xbox One, I have probably played it. I enjoyed the fact that while my Guitar/Bass scores absolutely stunk, my vocals were usually on top or second for just about every song I had.

The big selling point is that RB4 is a platform. It's a year old. Rivals has content but it's mostly a paywall to the 2017 feature set including online multiplayer.

If you want that, you'll need this expansion. If the songs as a pre-order don't soften the price of that, you'll need to wait for a sale or a price reduction when the songs are available separately.

There is no ETA on when online multiplayer will be added, but it's not with this expansion.

Cool, thanks. So $30 for multiplayer and some extra songs (only if you preorder). Guess I'll have to decide here pretty soon then.

And a single player campaign. Probably worth it if you like some of the preorder songs (Save Tonight is one I'm looking forward to).

Pre-ordered from GameStop last week since I wanted the charcoal guitar.
Still have to order the PDP adapter for the e-kit.

If anyone needs a Rivals band member I'm up for that!

Wait, so this expansion is adding the single player campaign and the multiplayer. What the heck does the original version have in it? Just an option to play random songs?

You can choose individual songs, create playlists, or play through a different campaign (single player or local multiplayer).

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

It doesn't have "multiplayer" in that you're not going to play synchronously with people online in a band.

It does have local multiplayer built in from day 1, obviously.

Rivals does add a "multiplayer" component directly that allows you to form "Crews" and your local performances add to the Crew. But you're still not playing with your crew.

Synchronous online multiplayer is 2017-TBA but the Rivals expansion is required to get that update in the future.

And, upon reading the article, it's coming ALONGSIDE Rivals, not WITH, so everyone gets it, regardless!

Honey I'm Good sounds like the music that the old guy from the Magic Mountain commercials dances to.

I think he dances to the Venga Boys or whatever it was called.

Now that's stuck in my head. Thanks. Lol.
