If you ever exported the original Rock Band into Rock Band 2, you'll be fine with at least that first game.

I'm sure you can find/borrow a quick RB3 disc to do the RB2 export. You might even be able to trick the system into allowing you to purchase the $15 export for RB3 if it believes you have a "verified purchase".

Someone will check the file sizes of these songs, see that they're bigger than the usual DLC, then future keyboard support will be confirmed.

I hate Depeche Mode (and especially that particular song) the way you guys probably hate Justin Bieber.
I'll buy that INXS track though.

I hope they are forward thinking enough to at least rip the KB track of these songs while they have the masters.
In 6-8 months when crickets are starting to chirp in RockBandLand then they would at least have options to bring in updated tracks, a new instrument, a 5th player, new KB techniques, new tours and challenges, etc.

I don't think it's as big of a deal as you make it sound but, yeah, it's definitely more work than it's worth at this (and probably every) point. I think most people would prefer they do a full 88-key simulation going forward but that's a pipe dream, regardless of screen real estate. Maybe a horizontal track with the actual notes & chords and not the arcade-y gem track we're used to.

I bought a pro guitar -- and made a five friggin' hour round trip to pick it up too! -- and even I think that's better left in the dust.
I don't know about a full 88 keys for the keyboard, but I do wish it had at least a third octave. I'd love to have keys back, but I'm not holding my breath or anything, and I wouldn't be crushed if it never happens again.

The biggest complaint about the keyboard was the awkward sliding and octave mapping. It confused real players with a dumbed-down version and confused the wannabe players with an unnatural experience.
I didn't say it was a viable option, I merely said that if they're going to add it, they need to approach it differently.

I feel that a better and bigger collaboration between HMX and the instrument manufacturers that focuses on the professional aspect would be a great solution. You don't need to build odd 5-lane toy instruments to try an ween the majority of medium players to real instruments. This is what failed in RB3.
Collaborate and get some universal interface (like the MPA) that you plug into existing professional instruments. Gamify learning and teaching music to the next generation with real instruments and sheet music standards using the RB4 platform.
Those interested will pay for a real Pro upgrade if it was done right.

Yes, I know there's a RB custom for it, but HMX really should've made this official DLC. It sounds like it would've been a blast for all types of plastic instruments.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)
After I finished up playing the new DLC last night I got a notification there was a game update (XB1) that needed to be installed.
After after the update finished, I restarted RB4...but I couldn't tell what had changed. I assume it's probably something to do with updated legacy DLC but I don't know for sure.
Anyone know more than I do on this one?

Is it possible MS approved and pushed the 11/2 "Interim Patch" early? Those patch notes are widely available and linked just a few posts up.

I didn't see anyone else on any RB-related forum mention noticing any updates so I don't really know what to think!
