UncleGramps and I did something like that a few years ago before PAX East. I highly recommend you attend if you can. It was a fully open bar and we got some sweet "Rock Band Road Crew" track jackets that my girls still wear.

Good news for Rock Band enthusiasts: all your Rock Band instruments from last generation will be compatible with the upcoming Rock Band 4.
Harmonix confirmed to IGN that the old instruments will carry over. Going from PS3 to PS4 will require nothing more than your ability to plug in the dongle, while going from Xbox 360 to Xbox One will require a special adapter Harmonix says will be "low-cost."
Cross generational compatibility is a big plus for Rock Band mega-fans who have the complete set of instruments for last gen. We tested out the new Rock Band 4 instruments and found them to be improved while retaining the same feel as the older versions of the instrument.
The campaign for Rock Band 4 is a flat-out RPG-- touring the world, playing gigs, and amassing fans. The direction you take will ultimately decide the shows you play, the gear you unlock, and the money you earn. All of this is done to make your band the biggest in the world.

Keep in mind that the dongle/adapter are for wireless instruments only. If you've got the MIDI adapter and want to use your ION kit, that's still up in the air.

An interesting look at the instruments. I had 2 Guitar Hero drum kits and the wire cover from the pedal to the unit just disintegrated on both of them. Did the Rock Band kits have this same problem?

I don't remember anyone talking about that. The most common problem with RB drummers were snapping pedals in half. But I think there's only so far you can engineer a piece of plastic to stand up to incessant stomping!

My problem was the rubber pads came off the drums and would never go back on correctly. You'd put them back on but they'd come loose again with aggressive drumming

I'm still completely on the fence. I've heard some rumors that there is no online at launch. If that's the case, it just kills it for me and I'll either wait for that to get implemented, or just forget about it altogether.
