Means I need to buy a midi brain for my ION kit though. Not sure how much that costs, but I think it's at least $100 for one.

I've been watching the Harmonix Live Stream on Twitch just now as they showcase the freestyle solos and they seem very cool. I wouldn't do it justice to explain, so you should probably just scope out the replay.

Will Harmonix kill another publisher? Mad Catz is hinging their future on RB4, and if it fails, they might not be around anymore.

Without Harmonix does Mad Catz have a future?

It sounds like they're doubling down on Rock Band being successful. If it's not, they might be history just like MTV Games.

St Vincent? Hell, yes.

Since we're getting All Over You, fingers are crossed for White, Discussion next.

Brown eyed girl is a great get. Hopefully more cure dlc is in the future. I'd love to play 'boys don't cry.'

Question (I've been out of the loop for a bit) -- if I have RB3 on my Xbox 360 can I export those tracks to RB4 on my XB1? How?

Harmonix hasn't ruled out Rock Band 3 exports, but it's apparently not something they're going to have ready at launch (and maybe not ever).

Rock Band Network DLC is apparently going to remain on the 360/PS3. That's a disappointment, although I get it.

I was assuming that the DLC will have been transferred to the current gen systems too. That's that mean that only the in game tracks will be transferable for Rock Band 3?

Regular DLC will carry over.

When I say Rock Band Network, I mean the tracks that bands published themselves or paid someone else to author. Harmonix made the tools available but didn't author/publish that DLC themselves. Those will not be in Rock Band 4 (which is a drag because there was a lot of good stuff there, but...).

"Crash Years" and "Your Hands (Together)" by The New Pornographers, for example, or pretty much all of Jonathan Coulton's songs. (He had 14 songs that were only available via RBN.) Anamanaguchi's "Airbrushed" is the one I'll miss the most, but that one really needs keys anyway.

I thought I read that the smaller subset of RBN stuff that was made available to PS3 (as DLC) would work though.

More from Harmonix about this:
Agreed that the Rock Band 3 soundtrack has some incredible songs on it. The reality is, getting music for a disc and getting music for DLC (or in this case, digital export... still downloadable -- there's actually a difference... don't ask) requires two separate licenses. This not only means an additional cost on our end to license the music, but additional work on our end to get it done (i.e. more money). We were able to offer disc export at a small fee previously because we could make a business case for the audience being there (and importing) to cover the costs. That's what those "export fees" were; we weren't just being greedy or evil.

At launch, we're laser focused on what we know we can do within reason at first and cover the most ground, and right now, RB3 tracks aren't part of that plan. But of course, this could change in the future . We're trying to do as much as we can to respect customer purchases and bring over a lot of content. One thing (or many, many things with more to come) at a time.

Keep in mind, a lot of this thinking applies to other features you're asking about that may or may not be in the game at launch. Lots of stuff to do and we'll get to most of if, but it's a big project. It's also a live service game, which means we plan to continue updating it (read: making it BETTER AND BETTER) after launch.

Also, yeah, stop yelling at us about Breakneck Speed.

Fall Out Boy - "Centuries"? Fuck this game, I'm out. I wanted to murder that song by the end of the NCAA Football Playoff.
