Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

Figured we could get one thread going instead of different conversations in the other two.

http://www.destructoid.com/borderlan...d-286397.phtml

Summary: Borderlands 2 + Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel + All DLC for both games = $60

Who is up for a crazy expensive $400 edition with a remote controlled Claptrap?

That being said, a friend and I have already played through the first two games. So I'll pick this up once it's $30 or less to play through the pre-sequel. Pretty silly that they didn't include the first game and are still charging a full $60.

Well, to be fair it does include a shit-ton of DLC. Seems pretty fair under the circumstances. Hoping for a Best Buy $10 Reward Certificate or something though.

Glad I didn't buy the prequel and I'll be able to play all the DL from BL2 that wasn't released in the GOTY edition.

This might be the first release day game I buy digitally.

Re: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

To this day the first Borderlands was and still is the Best Blind Buy ever for me. Played the crap out of it and literally a co-op blast. I got all four characters up to 64+ but slowly got burned out doing the entire campaign part over and over to level up seeing the same stuff but harder enemies. Still a good game...

I wish they could figure out how to transfer game data over though. Blizzard was able to do it with Diablo for the 360 to PS4 and PS3 to XO which made a lot of gamers happy. Still the complete package they're offering is actually quite good. One of the best co-op experiences I had including Diablo and GOW.

It *does* look pretty awesome, though. Maybe not $340 awesome, but still...

I don't know...that's cool as heck! Too bad they probably don't have the "Ninja Claptrap" but still that's pretty sharp.

I'd totally get the Claptrap if it were $100 less (with the game).

Yeah, can someone explain why Borderlands is not included?

This is unlike Halo: The Master Chief Collection where you had four different game engines going at once. This is a franchise that has used the same, exact engine (UE3) for its entire duration and the x86 coding ALREADY EXISTS. It's just a matter of fine tuning to for PS4 and Xbox One.

It's called "The Handsome Collection", Handsome Jack wasn't in the first one. Also, going back to the first one is painful, what without the fast travel spots and unbalanced guns where, for example, a level 15 gun could still be better than most level 30 guns. It also didn't have much, if any, story. That all started with Bl2.

I doubt I'll be getting it - I've put in well over 100 hours into Bl2 and over 40 into the pre-sequel. I want something NEW!

They're going to have a mighty hard time selling 5000 of those things at $400 a pop.

Re: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

Part of me is surprised and the other part not. When that game came out everyone wanted a "Claptrap" statue and this is even better. When they came out with the Ultimate Loot Chest at $150.00 many didn't think that would fast but sold out day one. There's a pretty serious fan base for Borderlands stuff.

It would be better if there was at least some movement in the arms.

Re: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

between my 360, ps3 and vita..I am done with borderlands 2. I have yet to play the pre..so I am down for that. I wish they would release these games digitally separately, sort of how Metro did, because I no have need for Borderlands 2. I would guess though that this will not happen. I will gladly wait until it is under 30 bucks.

I guess there are quite a few people that:
A. Really like Borderlands and collecting stuff.
B. Have a bunch of cash in hand just waiting to be spent.

Re: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

I wonder if whoever controls this franchise is in some kind of financial trouble. First they relegate TPS to the last-gen systems, now they release this thing just a few months later.

I take it TPS must not have sold that well, if the DLC period is already over. Borderlands 2 got DLC for nearly 18 months. Or is there more to come, for an additional fee?

Re: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - PS4 & XB1 - 3/24/15

Gearbox? Well they were responsible for Aliens: Colonial Marines...

But honestly, it's no surprise that a game released so late in the cycle last gen shows up current gen, so I wouldn't automatically assume financial trouble.

EDIT: I guess the Pre-Sequel was mostly done by 2K Australia and not by Gearbox directly. This is probably more of a 2K wanting to sell more copies more then anything.

I'm just surprised it's happening so soon, only 5 months later. Other games have had a year or more between the original and redux edition, at least waiting until the DLC is finished.

I feel bad for people that bought this on 360 or PS3 along with the season pass - that's $90 and now the game gets a new-gen release. If there's any more DLC released after this, will owners of the season pass for 360/PS3 get it for the XBO/PS4 version?

I don't. We all knew this was coming. It was a huge mistake releasing this on last-gen systems only a full year into the next generation. It's one thing not knowing that Metro games or even GTA V would eventually come to next gen, but this game came out not just after the next gem launch, but after several other next gen re-releases had already come out.
