Question about PLEX and Xbox One

If I have an Xbox One and I install the PLEX App on it, can I simply plug in an external HD filled with movies and shows into the USB port on the Xbox One and browse everything through Plex?

I really love Plex's design interface, just wondering if I need a separate computer to achieve this.

No, you can use the Xbox Media Player for that though. Plex is a streaming client that looks for a Plex server, it doesn't handle local content.

Yes, I think the thing I love about Plex is that it shows metadata, poster artwork, etc.

Yeah, its nice, all that metadata downloads on the server side tho so it needs to be there.

You need a Plex Pass subscription to use it on the One... *sigh*
