Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

That's the thing though, the game isn't going to be "complete" for a couple more years since each year is going to be a season now. Honestly, this is probably the best case for them, but they fucked up at launch. The game should have launched at $30 and have $20 "seasons" ever year. I think that would have met expectations with more people instead of a fast cash grab up front and now people feel ripped off. Like I said before, Killer Instinct perfected that model, it's just a shame that Capcom really dropped the ball on this one.

More and more games are going to go the "seasons" road soon enough. Since game development is sooooo fucking expensive for these AAA games, it doesn't make sense to make a base game, sell it for $60, have it go on sale for half that price a couple months later, and then fall off the radar. Just like Rainbow Six Siege, if you can keep bringing people back with expansions instead of a full blown sequel, they are less likely to trade in and keep playing the game in a rotation with new content.

It's going to be a long ass time until they are done adding content to this game, so enjoy the wait for your complete collection.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

I have no problem at all waiting. This game already looks very close to USFIV, so if it means waiting a few years for a complete collection I have no problem. Plenty more games in the mean time to get on with. Capcom are the big losers here as I doubt many more people will be picking up the game over the next couple of years unless it goes dirt cheap and DLC is made free. Anyone devoted to this series willl already have the game, everyone else no longer gives much of a shit. If they never release a collection then I am fine with that as well. I am not gonna support bullshit tactics like this from games companies.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

"Season Pass" type stuff actually makes a lot of sense for this genre with the way that they can add new characters and extend the lifespan of the game and keeping players active. I would strongly disagree that all the characters they want to add could have easily been added to the game at launch given the time to balance all the characters as they introduce new ones, else the "complete" game would take forever to be released. There's a happy medium somewhere between just the presumed greed and developers actually continuing to produce high quality content after a game's release. In the old PC days, these were basically expansion packs.

Funny series to pick on though, given the series has been known for numerous rereleases and updates. I think season passes are a better option then buying "Super" or "Ultra" iterations.

Don't get me wrong, that's no excuse for the state that the game actually was at when it was released.

Big news today on the Street Fighter V front :

The legendary fighter's latest entry gets an upgrade January 16. The best part? New gameplay-related content will be free for all Street Fighter V owners.

Hello, PlayStation Nation and Street Fighters! We’re thrilled to announce Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, coming to all our warriors around the world on January 16, 2018! As the name suggests, this edition includes the highly-requested Arcade Mode, but it also includes much much more! If you’ve been spectating on the sidelines or waiting for the right moment to join the fight, you’ll definitely want to check this out. Without further ado, let’s get to what’s inside!

First off, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will come with all 28 characters, which includes those from Season 1 and Season 2 – there’s still one more character that we’ll be announcing very soon. In order to introduce more variety in each match, all characters will receive a second V-Trigger you can choose before the match begins! It’s time to see what else your main character is capable of. We’ll be rolling out more details in the future.

As previously stated, Arcade Mode will be present, but this isn’t your cookie cutter version. Being the #1 requested addition to Street Fighter V, we’re making sure it’ll be an experience rather than just a mode. As it’s our 30th anniversary year, we wanted to add even more to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! Extra Battle Mode, V-Trigger moves, Gallery, and a UI design overhaul are among the features we can’t wait to show you in the future. There’s a lot of information to share with each of these new additions, so keep an eye out as we approach January.

Ready for even better news? As we promised in the past, the initial purchase of Street Fighter V is still the only one that you’ll need as the new gameplay-related content in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be part of a free in-game update for current players once it releases! That means if you currently play Street Fighter V, you won’t need to purchase anything else to get Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, etc. – you’ll just need to download the update! For those who don’t currently have Street Fighter V, you’ll be able to purchase Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition for $39.99, which will include everything we’ve mentioned above. We wanted to make sure there’s something to celebrate for both current and new players alike.

Thank you for your feedback and for supporting Street Fighter V throughout the years! We’re listening and are planning to bring you something we’re really proud of and can finally announce. Here’s to many more years to come for Street Fighter V!

Completely asinine. It should've launched with it. The casual audience for this is gone too. Ugh.

I love how Arcade Mode had to be requested for an arcade game... :/

Hey, you're getting it within two years of the game's release (just barely). What's the big deal?

I still pop this in from time to time to go a few rounds online...I get my ass handed to me but it's still fun. Looking forward to the "better late than never" arcade mode.

Was really banking on them doing a black friday sale for the second season pass like they did last year for the first one, but I guess that isn't happening

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

If you already have the base game, the upgrade kit for Street Fighter V: Championship Edition is out now, digitally. The physical version releases on 2/14/2020.

Can't speak for every platform but even though it's listed in the PSN Store as pre-order, purchasing the Digital Upgrade Kit for $24.99 unlocks the following immediately:

-New Character: Gill (from Street Fighter III: Third Strike) w/ All Colors & Costumes
-All Currently Available Characters (from Season 1 to start of Season 5 *Gill*)
-All 200 Costumes (except timed CPT costumes & Fighting Chance Costumes)
-All Colors for Costumes (except Fighting Chance Colors)
-All 34 Stages (except timed CPT stages)
-Unlocks New Character (on 2/14/20): Seth (from Street Fighter IV) w/ All Colors & Costumes

On top of all that, the Season 5 Patch is live! Balances & Changes to all Characters in the game, including the addition of a 2nd V-Skill to all Characters!

Am I reading that right? Only $5 less (than the full version) for the upgrade for the previous version that already has most of the content?

$24.99 right now if you already have the base game installed.

The only difference between the Digital Upgrade Kit (if you already own the base game) & the Physical Release (in February 2020) is just that. Digital Vs. Physical. They will have the exact same content added & unlocked.

It's a great deal, considering how much the Characters, Stages & Costumes cost by themselves as well as how many you are getting (all but the CPT Costumes & Fighting Chance Costumes/Colors).

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

I bought the Digital Upgrade Kit for Street Fighter V: Championship Edition last night.

Previous to this, I bought half of the characters with Fight Money and the other half with actual money.

Quickly though, the amount of content from stages to costumes got immense and even with all the timed events, it's time consuming to grind for each and every small thing that had been released.

Paying $24.99 to immediately get 99% of the content released is a ridiculous deal. I'm happy to finally have the colors that you had to play Survival Mode to unlock.

But it's $30 for everything later, right?
Why is the upgrade barely less than the full release?

Yup! $29.99 for the Street Fighter V: Championship Edition physical disc in February.

Not sure. Being able to get all the content early perhaps?
