I made a huge mistake...

I decided to skip consoles this generation and build a PC. Big mistake... games are so cheap! Er... older games that is. I only decided this a few days ago and I've already bought 35 games. I can't stop buying them, they're such deals! Man, I'm so screwed.

35 in 3 days? That sounds about right. And the GOG Fall Insomnia sale starts soon, I'll probably add 100 more there.

What I've learned is things are "a deal" if you aren't using them. Even if a game is a penny, if it just sits in your library it is a penny wasted (ok, I'm exaggerating to prove my point here).

Slow your role a bit, and buy games when you're ready to play them, or when you think you'll play them in the near future. Or don't. As long as you can afford the games, you aren't hurting anyone or anything. But what I've learned is that ever game that goes on sale...goes on sale again....and again....and again.

You have Black Friday to redeem yourself. Look at the ads from Target and Best Buy already published.

I bought 2 games this year (Infamous and Destiny), and I'm pretty sure I'm done. I have too many PS+ games to catch up with to be buying more stuff to collect dust.

Edit: Also bought Last of Us off a buddy to save it from Gamestop.

I used to do that with console games. If it was halfway decent and cheap I would buy it. Now I have hundreds of sealed games that I will never get around to playing. I never did that with digital pc games though. I am still debating if I want to spend $10 on Titanfall for the PC lol

Titanfall was worth $10 when it was released, now? $9.50 tops.

I'm glad I can control myself with Steam and all the cheap and available PC games. As tempting as all those under $5 releases are for old and classic games, I know I just don't have the time to play them and don't need to get in to a collector mentality just to own them.

That said, it's hard to resist. PC gaming is as good as it's ever been, especially since this generation of consoles are more PC like then ever and arguably disappointing power wise.

"Aren't" a deal, you mean?

I've pretty much stopped buying games unless it's something I'm ready to play now. Too much backlog and too little playing time.

I can control myself too... it was intended as a jest. Having said that however, the games really are dirt cheap compared to consoles and fall in price faster. As an example, I own Fallout: New Vegas on PS3. I was able to purchase a PC download that included all DLC cheaper than only one DLC for the console. That's crazy, but I'll take it. The prices I'm seeing just validate my decision.

I'm also retired so likely have more time to game than you. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up, wasn't on FB today to see GOG promoting it, always wanted to try Mount and Blade. I love GOG.

I might as well wait for to hit $9 then!
