It was fast paced. During the first 10 minutes or so.

I loved Drive. The lady sounds like my father-in-law. He hated it because it was "too slow and boring."

He gave Grown-ups a good rating though. Go figure.

This investigation in particular seems to be over the screenshots and description up on Steam only.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

No Man's Sky has been steadily dropping over at Amazon. It's currently under $35. There are also TEN pages of the Limited Edition available from AWD ranging in price from $30 (good) to $34 (Like new - sealed)

So are we thinking this will be a $19.99 Black Friday game?

I have a like new disc only copy that I'd part with for $20 shipped if anyone wants it (I actually do have the case and cover but a bit of the plastic in the corner is missing).

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

My update downloaded over night and gonna check out the changes today. I see they have added new base building parts which is nice, i just hope they have also upped the number of items you can use to build a base. When i built my first one a couple of months ago i remember quickly hitting the maximum number of pieces you can use for a single base. It felt like i hardly begun its design as well and it left me disappointed.

I am still surprised that so many people were disappointed in the game. It did exactly what i expected it to do. Do i wish it had more to it like sentient beings to interact with more and fight against, sure. That the storyline had some depth and you had more mission like gameplay, again sure. But i am hoping that eventually some of these things might appear. Good to see the studio is still adding free updates to the game with new content.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I was one of those who got this at launch...and while the game didn't pan out like many thought it seems like it is trying to fix things.

With this new update, is it going to be easier to explore with other & groups or they trying to make it easier to just battle others? I'd love the opportunity to fire this back up and explore and mingle with others finding new stuff.....random people or inviting friends?

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

Well, after being intrigued before it's release, then put off of it afterwards I finally bit on this one. Installed it last night and, hmm....I was bored and fascinated at the same time. Definitely not one for the masses, but I can see it getting interesting after getting your ship and building your first base (where I'm at right now). I'm running at Ultra settings, but the sky looks like poo (which I read about before buying).

One question, can I leave my "base" planet before completing my tasks there? I'm pretty sure I have everything topped off to be able to fly, but I can't.

It's down to $15 at Best Buy w/ GCU and store pickup for PS4. At that price, I'll take a chance.

Only about 8 hours in, but it's strangely addicting. On my second ship, have 1 freighter and 1 base set up (with portal, thank goodness). They keep dangling that new technology/find carrot just close enough to keep playing.

Here's my avatar (was going for a Scout Trooper look) and my latest ship:

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I established a base on a planet with lots of good resources for farming, and built a teleporter, too, but I keep getting the message that the teleporter system is offline. My planet is pretty far from everything else in the system, so getting to it can be a pain in the ass.

I'm running around with 1.5 million credits at this point, and still have my first ship. I really need to upgrade.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I like to get back in but I've seen where some think it's best to scrap and start all over especially with the new content & updates and if one hasn't played in a long time...like folks like me. Did ya'll keep what you had and just adapt to the new stuff or weren't too far in and start over? I think I saw my last save somewhere around mid 2016...ouch!.....

I did find this as a good example of the upgrades....Launch vs NEXT (PS4-Pro)

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I started over from the beginning. The systems seem so different now that I don't know if I could've jumped back into an old save without having the new early game tutorials.

And I think I read that a lot of the tech aquired in previous builds of the game is now obsolete and useless after the patch, and you basically have to sell it or break it down anyway.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

Been playing this almost daily. Strange that a game with no real driving plot (and yes, I know there is a main "quest" line) like a traditional game can keep me coming back. The dangling carrot of tech I mentioned previously is part of it, but so is the prospect of seeing something fantastical/strange that you haven't seen yet. I've found a spot to really settle and build my permanent base (walking distance to a trading outpost, so I can get a new ship when I get the urge) with minimal sentinel activity and very stable weather patterns.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

So the new update of Beyond is released today and it sounds likes going to be a very big download and promises a lot including VR. The idea of this game in VR is incredibly appealing, and when they get around to updating the PSVR for the PS5 i will be very happy to indulge. It amazes me that over the last few years more people havnt gotten involved with this game as its steadily built on its initial release. I recall that Kickstarter project (Star Citizen???) that seemed to pretend to offer the same concept but in a grander scale in every way, and that seemed to be a pipe dream that simply defrauded millions. NMS has done a pretty damn good job of delivering on what it promised, and it continues to grow. I personally have loved the game since the beginning as it was relaxing to play and made a change from a the usual games pumped out.

If anyone still hasnt given it a try i think now is a perfect time.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

It sounds like it's a bit buggy at the moment so I'm going to wait for a patch before I re install this. I played this after the last big update and was very into it for a good while. Most of this update sounds like it's not necessarily for me (farming, more multiplayer, expanded base building), but I am very curious to try this VR mode.

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I was one of those who PO No Man's Sky and got hooked on all the presentations and trailers...after try for a few months let the game go by the wayside and never picked it up again.....other day I saw a couple on my friends list playing and then a few days ago a new trailer on a upcoming update really caught my interest. To say that NMS has to be given the Turn-Around Game Award of the Decade might be a understatement....seeing this new update compared to when the game first came out is well, impressive....from a small one man craft to a fleet to having crew members is just astounding how this game has developed.....

Re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

Out of curiosity and seeing some stories on updates and just how No Man's Sky basically did a 180...I reloaded it a few weeks ago getting the PS5 Update....and must say...it's a different game for the best. The extra content, add-ons, expanding more on what you can do, co-op, base building, etc...has made this into a really fun game...and the upgrade makes it into one of the best looking. As in the video below where he mentions anytime a game comes out with issues and then tries to turn it around, it's...."Can they pull a No Man's Sky"....

It still has a feeling of satisfaction landing/discovering a New Planet and Scanning New Lifeforms to Plants and Minerals trying to see a whole Planet only to realize you have 2-4 others in the system to see and explore. But when you pull up the sky chart you then get a sense of just how tiny spec you and current system is....but it's all the New Content fom Bases, Portals that allow fast travel to other systems, Mining, Farming, The Anomaly in each System where you actually see other players and can hook up, getting freighters, Mechs, Pets...at every turn far, far more to do....in fact I feel like I'm actually accomplishing some degree of moving forward more in it than in Destiny 2 where it's a crawl and grind to move up one level and only to see what you grinded for so hard be worthless in a few months....Here, everything can be used all the time and what's trash in one system is gold in another....I've been really impressed by what they've done...and all these new updates and add-on...FREE...
