I love the game, but I hate the virtual currency/in app purchase model they've been using. Luckily I don't care that much about buying in game "swag" or whatever.

Some of the players look funny during those pre-game introduction scenes, like their arms or shoulders are too skinny or something, but maybe that's just me. Otherwise looks awesome. Since I don't have a new console, I might grab this on PC since it's supposed to be using the next gen engine rather then getting it on 360 or PS3.
NBA 2K was one of the games that sold me on a 360 way back when, but I don't think I have the money to throw down on a console at the moment.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/9/25/684...-mycareer-mygm
Jones acknowledged that VC was too pervasive in NBA 2K14, and noted that he's the kind of person who never wants to spend money on microtransactions when he's playing a game like this. Yet the first time he entered the conversation screen in last year's MyGM mode, he was presented with two "free" options and others that cost VC.
"It's the first screen I walk into!" he said.
That screen has been changed for NBA 2K15 based partly on feedback from Jones, who added that the game's implementation of VC isn't nearly as pernicious as last year in general. Basic team management functions in MyGM are no longer locked behind VC expenditures; in fact, you can only spend money in the mode on a few optional accelerators. Spending VC is still the way you improve your created player's attributes in MyCareer, but the upgrade system has been tweaked to mitigate the ability to buy your way to the top. The only other places where VC matters is in buying cosmetic items for your player and, of course, in MyTeam.
Conversations in MyGM will carry more weight: NBA 2K15 tracks what you tell NBA players, and their morale will be affected by how well you follow up on your promises. MyCareer once again takes the form of a story mode with cutscenes — "it is definitely the way we foresee doing things for now," said Jones, although he told Polygon that all of the cutscenes themselves are new for this year.
In NBA 2K15's MyCareer mode, your created player starts as an undrafted rookie with a chance at a 10-day contract. The tale is one of mentorship: When you make it to an NBA team, a player will take you under their wing and teach you "what it takes to be an NBA player," said Jones. As you can see in the MyCareer trailer below, which 2K Sports released yesterday, Visual Concepts brought players from every team into the studio and recorded dialogue for the mode.

Wow, so undrafted rookie is the only choice?

So I haven't bought a 2K game since 2K11. Other than the standard play modes the only thing I really care about are classic teams/games. Is that still a thing they do?

Just got the PS4 version today from Amazon. Used a gift card that I got for my birthday last week.
Be warned, there is a 937MB game update that you will need to download. Taking almost 30 minutes to download.

Yes I finished downloading the update.
Just started My Career. Went Undrafted in the 2014 draft. I had a list of 10 teams interested in signing me to a 10 day contract. I chose the Suns and made the team after a good workout.
So far, I like the look of the game. Graphics are really sharp looking. I need to get used to the PS4 controls though. I've played 2K only on the 360 and they are slightly different.
Roster updates were pretty accurate. Played an exhibition game as the Lakers and it was pretty up to date with the exception of Nick Young's injury...he's still on the active roster.

Forcing myplayer to connect to their servers combined with their servers having problems is among for a very frustrating experience. Also on myplayer it's frustrating to spend more time on loading screens than the actual game, though I suspect that will change as my guy gets more minutes.
It seems you can only buy attributes in packs now. So you can't just buy points in medium shot, you have to buy a package that upgrades all your shooting. I don't think I like that change.

Sideline interviews!

Re: NBA 2K15 -- October 7, 2014
Yeah, that happened to me more than once. It also occasionally kicks me out of myplayer after I buy some attributes, saying that it can't connect to server, making me load into that mode all over again. I just want to play my 16 minutes of swiss cheese defense, I don't want it to take forever to load interviews and halftime coaching and cheerleaders.
I don't even know how to see what my current attributes are in myplayer, besides looking at the attribute packs.

If you have a PS4 camera, which I dont, you supposedly can scan you're own likeness for your created player.
While that sounds cool, I don't know about spending the extra $50 for the camera. I don't know if I would use it for its other capabilities.

Have you seen the articles about the monstrocities that are created with the camera?
http://www.cinemablend.com/games/NBA...ing-67716.html
And yeah, I'm not buying a camera for that (although I do have to change the appearance of my player, his gigantic nose is really distracting in the cutscenes.
And re: the cutscenes: how much more cliche can you character and his agent be? I thought last year was bad.

The other somewhat odd thing is having Kerr call the games...
