Pretty good article over at IGN covering this that's actually a good read....and there is a video via Iphone(?) of someone playing the two classes.

TGS 2014: Playing as Two New Classes in PS4’s Bloodborne

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

I didn't know anything about this game until i saw that the collector's steelbook edition had shot up to #1 on amazon in video games for a bit.

Looks damn good. So it looks like Feb of 2015 have like 20 game releases? Everything seems to be due out in February of '15.

Well by the time February gets here I'm sure there will only be like 7 that actually come out.

Yep, that's definitely from the creator of Dark Souls. Looking good!

Will it be as hard as Dark Souls and Dark Souls II is/was? This really looks cool. Love the Gothic, Old England art style.

Dark Souls and Dark Souls II aren't hard. They simply demand your full attention while you're playing, and offer little in the way of modern hand-holding.

Oh? I thought it had some sort of harsh death penalty where you lose life or something like that. Are the mobs hard? Or maybe at first until you learn patterns and weaknesses?

I've seen people argue this and I think it's bullshit. They're definitely hard by an sort of modern gaming standard.

Requires patience, caution, and experimentation. There's no magically regenerating health and no checkpoints every 5 minutes like a modern game (even Dark Souls II is sparse compared to your average game). Bosses generally require multiple attempts/approaches. No arrow pointing where to go to the next point, no map, just sometimes some random dialogue to suggest it to you. Not clear what stats affect what / what upgrades affect what. Etc, etc, etc.

Sure it's not hard by oldschool standards (easier than perhaps Contra or Ghosts and Goblins, or TMNT or Battletoads on the NES lol) but the hardest good game I can think of since the 16-bit era. Maximo on the PS2, or maybe Devil May Cry 3, MAYBE approaches the difficulty level, that's about as close as I can think of.

I've seen some people that are naturally cautious and thorough do OK (See KayPlays do her blind playthrough on Youtube for example) but most people get smacked down hard and keep getting smacked down.

It does get easier once you learn the basics, and not to just run straight in, guns a blazin' (so to speak), but the learning curve is very steep at the beginning.

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

That is a very dark, visually unappealing game. I'm glad that some of you like this sort of a game and I'm sure it'll be well made and excellent, but I doubt I'd even be interested in renting it personally.

And I hate the name Bloodborne which is medical term for a pathogen like a virus or bacteria spread through blood contact (like HIV or hepatitis C).
Though to be fair, it's not the worst medically-inspired video game name of recent years

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

From Software Boss: PS4 Exclusive Bloodborne Will Be Harder Than Demon's Souls

http://www.gamepur.com/news/17841-so...ons-souls.html

According to Bloodborne producer Masaaki Yamagiwa, PlayStation fans shouldn't worry about Bloodborne difficulty as it's going to be HARDER than Demon's Souls. Sony PlayStation has just published a brand new Bloodborne video footage detailing Chalice Dungeons, multiplayer, new features and more. The exact quote of Masaaki reads:

"Demon’s Souls fans can expect the same level of challenge and sense of achievement with Bloodborne. In fact, I think the sense of achievement will be even higher"

This is commentary by Masaaki (in Japanese) but there is a great deal of game footage including co-op battling some decent size bosses. Pretty impressive...

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

Damn.

Edit: I've always been a bit put off by the alleged frustration level and slow movement of the Souls games along with the setting, but this looks great across the board. Hope it's good.

Video above is...again, damn.

Can I go ahead and put you in then for "co-op" play?

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

It makes me sad to know that so many people out there are missing out on the greatness that is Dark Souls because of the much overhyped "difficulty" of it.

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

I never played Dark Souls so I cannot comment. Heck, the last "Dark Game" I played was probably Doom on the Xbox. It's just something about this one that really has me interested...just something different, the overall dark Victorian atmosphere and being co-op is really big. The only thing so far I maybe have question is the close areas of combat and maybe a linear way of movement.

First 18 minutes...

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Tvi51MDOZTQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So pretty much Souls with more action and a ridiculously atmospheric setting.

Edit: Posted before I finished watching. Boss at the end is...holy shit!

I know this, they've got some serious freaky ideas for monsters; that Boss...wow. Love the nice "Hack & Slash" sound effects and no shortage of blood by no means. And that atmosphere and setting...just right.

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

I only watched a few minutes (didn't wanna ruin the experience) But that looked easier than any Souls game. Did it get harder later in the video?

Re: Bloodborne - PS4 (Sony Japan + From + Miyazaki)

You should've watched the whole video with the Boss Battle at the end. Yea it doesn't look like much but this is "The first 18 minutes of the game" so like most games it's more or less to get your feet wet. Go and look at some other gameplay out there and I don't think it's that easy.
