stingermck - my guess is you needed to have automatic updates enabled I think. My preorder didn't have the update, then I saw the file size change and assumed the update had been downloaded.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Man, I forgot how terrible some of these games are, Halo 1 in particular. I think I have to give up on the 3rd mission already. It's borderline unplayable. I forgot how you never know where the fuck to go and nothing appears on the HUD or map, so you aimlessly wander the levels until stumbling upon the correct path. Then, I get to the 3rd mission where I have to escort dipshit commander dude from the alien ship and he gets fucking annihilated as soon as the doors open...EVERY TIME! That's cool though, it only forces me to listen to a 3 minute scene every checkpoint reload before he inevitably dies again. I assume I can't just have a friend jump in the level and help either, because that would be too convenient. After playing games like Sunset Overdrive where they focus on fun, it's really hard to go back to a poorly made game.

Then there's an issue where most achievements are not unlocking, which is a clusterfuck unto itself.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Does anyone know if this supports same Xbox co-op? In other words can I have three other people with me, playing on the same Xbox one, play the campaign and Xbox live multi-player matches such as Slayer and CTF?

Haha. I remember that. Thanks for saving me $65

Online is FUBAR right now. Cant connect to party invites with friends, searching for players is spinning, etc etc. MS says they are working around the clock, but was a bad launch.

Based on the back of the case, I would say yes but don't quote me on that since I have not gone home yet to play. Stuck at work still.

Xbox Live has taken a massive shit over the past 24 hours.

Achievements are not unlocking properly. Game installs are finishing. Xbox's most anticipated game of the year can't even get matchmaking working to the point where other games that utilize Azure can't even properly use matchmaking. My friends who took off today are pissed because they can't even play multiplayer.

Heads are probably going to roll.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Friend and I were able to play straight co-op without issue for a few levels. Well, aside from achievements not working and the 5th level in the game being like 2 fucking hours long...wtf was Bungie thinking back then???

When we tried to play a 3 level cross-game playlist however, the game took a huge shit all the time. He crashed or got kicked out after/before each new mission. The 3rd mission, a Halo 3 level, ran at about 15fps the entire time. It was rad.

Aside from all the connection related issues (and shitty 10yr old game design!), the collection is quite remarkable and still pretty awesome.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Mine shipped today from Best Buy via UPS Next Day Air. Should have it tomorrow. The map book came today and it's really nice and far more substantial than I had thought. Printed on thick glossy paper in full color. It's spiral bound so you can fully open to any page without it closing on you and has two pages for every map in the game (map on one page, strategy tips on the other) - 192 pages in all. It's probably the best free pre-order bonus I've ever seen from Best Buy. Also got a digital code for some Skull bonus, not that I really care about that.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday morning Pacific Time) we plan to roll out a number of server updates to help improve matchmaking. Again, these are server-side fixes, so you won't need to take a content update or reboot your console; you should see the effects right away.

In addition, we are targeting another release for this weekend, which will address a number of other community priorities. An unrelated issue with services is also causing achievements to not unlock correctly, and we realize this just makes it all feel a bit worse.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

glitched achievements aside I am having a blast with the first game...

I am surprised how weak my guns feel. I have played this game so many times, even with the most recent 360 anniversary addition. I always play it on legendary, but this time it seems my guns just do no damage at all. Might be just in my head...

It's the same game as before, no? The same Anniversary edition...

It's the same Halo 1 Anniversary Edition, but now it's a port of a port, so there's bound to be some oddness.

Now I'm kinda glad I haven't gotten my copy from Best Buy yet. It's in transit somewhere.

NOTE: During the 1st hour, from 6-7PM it is supposed to be a guaranteed in stock item so as long as you are there even if it sells out you can get it at that price during that timeframe. And I am going to pretty much assure you this will sell out right away. Also it is an "in-store" only deal as well.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

So... how exactly is this game broken right now?
I haven't opened my copy yet, but all I really want is to:
- Install it
- Install that massive stupid patch because I don't have a choice in the matter.
- Play all the SP campaigns, ideally with achievements unlocking
- maybe some MP down the road, but that's the least of my concerns.

Am I going to have issues with all of this, or should I just return it?

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I am so looking forward to playing these again. I finished the first two when they came out for the original Xbox and have never played past that. Of course, I wanted to play yesterday but had to download the patch first as my system also needed to be updated. Took all night!

If I was still using DSL I probably would have returned the game.

I never played the Halo 1 Anniversary edition (even though I have it). So looking forward to that.

You will probably have some problems with achievements.

-The initial install was fine yesterday.

-Starting installing the ridiculous patch at 4p yesterday when I got home with the game, it was only 90% done when we finally gave up and went to bed at 1a. So for a big portion of launch day, no Halo 2 (which was the main campaign draw) and no MP at all. Maybe it'll go faster for people today.

-Only played up to Silent Cartographer of Halo, but I've run into a ton of glitches so far. Some are pretty minor (music cutting out), some are major (not saving level progress). System has locked up twice, though I think that's just the game, not campaign. A few achievements haven't unlocked (though if you look at the progress bar for them, they say "Done! Unlocking..." so I assume they will eventually pop.), but most seem to have.

-Haven't been able to play a single game of MP.

Latest update:

We have deployed a number of server updates to help improve matchmaking. These updates should expedite search times and allow you to find matches faster and easier. We are actively monitoring data for wait times and will continue to modify as necessary.

Additionally, we are monitoring all non-matchmaking feedback, and still targeting another release for this weekend. Please continue to use the support forums to report and discuss issues. We will continue to work until issues are resolved, and thank you for your continued patience. Please stay tuned to this thread for regular updates.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Yikes, still sounds like it's going to have some problems for awhile. Probably not Driveclub level problems, but problems nonetheless. This is still one of my most anticipated games this year.
