My only question is digital or physical disc?
I'm kind of excited for this. I look forward to going through all the single-player stuff, and maybe a bit of MP. |
Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
I was going to get this on release date, but that video made me really excited. I can't wait.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
Since some of us were passive aggressively called out in the Destiny thread, I am throwing this up here for those who haven't seen it:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/qQQbGq8TnR8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Jump to 2:30 and they walk through the game's menus. Jump to 24:20 to watch them walk through the last development build of a specific, fan-favorite Halo 2 remastered map. According to 343i, final details will go live at Gamescom. |

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
It's not reflected in the website yet, but apparently Best Buy has decided to add the Master Chief Collection to the games with $10 back with Pre-order. I wanted to go digital, but $38 + tax is too good a deal to pass up. Especially with the free map book that comes with it.

Is there a reason certain bundles are released only in certain territories?

http://www.joystiq.com/2014/10/09/34...-native-1080p/
The upgraded port of Halo 2 included in the Xbox One-exclusive series compilation Halo: The Master Chief Collection will not output at a native 1080p resolution, developer 343 Industries confirmed in an interview with IGN this week. The porting process initially placed Halo 2: Anniversary at 720p, due to a hardware-pushing feature that allows players to switch between its original graphics engine and an updated audiovisual presentation instantly. Further tweaking allows Halo 2's campaign to run at 1328x1080 in the retail version of The Master Chief Collection, putting it a step behind the other games in the bundle, which perform at a native 1920x1080 resolution. |
Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
I always thought it was odd that everything is 1080p 60fps except the Halo 2 campaign.
Achievement list revealed today...400 for 4000pts!! I'm gonna be busy! |
Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
So the collection doesn't include both Halo:CE and Halo:CE Anniversary?

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
I was just going to post about the patch. I may actually partially believe them about filling the disc and needing more space to download multiplayer etc. 4 HD games and all of the multiplayer is a ton of stuff to cram on one disc.

4TB External HD FTW!

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
Yeah, why not two BDs?
20GB patch is insane. Does that mean I have to download about 70GB for this, since I'm still all-digital? (except Wolfenstein, which I don't play because the disc isn't in the drive. :D) Jebus... |

It actually makes the whole idea of disc-based games seem obsolete though since they're little more than a purchase verification at this point. |
Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
I'm not so sure that much will be overwritten. I mean, the game JUST went Gold yesterday, didn't it? And they're already saying there's a 20GB patch, today? That to me means it's more like day one free, but mandatory, DLC.
Discs are shiny. That's all I've got. |
Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
The way I took it is that all the offline campaign stuff is on the disc, and you download the multiplayer (plus some day one patch fixes) in the 20gb file. You can still play all the campaign while waiting for the 20gb to download, and digital buyers can get the patch before the game releases. They NEED to let EVERYONE get the patch before the game releases, not digital only.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection
There has to be a playable version of the game on-disc since there is no internet requirement after that initial install, so there's never gonna be a game that is truly a digital game that is simply authenticated by a disc.
It seems like once you hook up to the internet, however, that all of that goes out the window. When Dead Rising 3 has a 13gb title update and takes up 16gb of hard drive space then that disc has become nothing but an authenticating feature. Is there a website that compares how much hard drive space varies between disc-based installs and digital titles? |
