Is it wrong that it will be this that convinces me to buy an Xbone?

No, because this title can't come out soon enough.

I am more excited for this than any other game coming out Q4 2014.

I'm in the minority of gamers but I still consider Halo 2 the best one in the series.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

My only question is digital or physical disc? I'm leaning towards digital because it might be fun just to hop into a MP game at a moment's notice. But if the box art is nice, I might want that version instead (won't be selling this game, obviously). Looks like the retailer pre-orders are only exclusive skulls, which is no big deal to me anyway.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I hope they show some actual gameplay soon. I really want to see what halo 2 looks like. I am also curious what Halo 3 will look like with the same textures but running at 1080p.

Halo 2 looked fine on the PC where it had no problems reaching a 1900x1200 resolution and 60fps with now outdated hardware. The HD assets exist for standard Halo 2 which, at the time, were twice the resolution that Xbox owners got to see. If 343i decided to use them is another question as they're doing their own upgrade.

Again, the HD assets exist for Halo 3 and 4. Both games should look fine at 1080p/60.

I'm also considering an XO for this, especially if there's a bundle.

I actually have Halo 2 on pc. After watching your above video I started it up and while it looks way better than the xbox version, even at max settings is dated. Halo 3 is a newer game, and I know it will look good, I am just curious how good. We know Halo 2 is going to be stunning, and might actually end up looking the best of the 4 games in this collection.

Same here. If there have been Forza and titanfall bundles, surely their flagship will be one also.

I didn't know that was the minority opinion. Seems like most people who love the series love 2 as much as any of them. Though only anecdotal, I rarely see it listed as a least favorite.

Well I always hear people bitch about the levels where
Spoiler:
play as the Alien
That was my favorite part of the game I assumed they didn't like 2 very much.

Halo 2 was great but I think I enjoyed Halo 4 much more.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Here's how I would rank them:

Campaign
  1. Halo Reach
  2. Halo: Combat Evolved
  3. Halo 4
  4. Halo 3
  5. Halo 3: ODST
  6. Halo 2
Multiplayer
  1. Halo 2
  2. Halo 3
  3. Halo Reach
  4. Halo 4
I never played the multiplayer of Halo: CE on PC. I assume it was similar to what we saw in Halo 2?

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I really enjoyed the campaign of Halo 4, but 343i ruined the multiplayer by deviating as far away from the Halo formula and making it more in tune to that of Call of Duty.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I have a hard time separating the MP from the SP in the Halo games, but I will be honest, I did not play a lot of Halo 2 MP, because I was in my hardcore counter strike PC phase. (and probably why Halo 2 is low on my list) Halo 4 was such a disgrace to the Halo MP, that 343 should of had some heads roll. I play call of duty when I want to play call of duty. That is not what Halo is for.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I really enjoyed Halo 4's campaign. Thought it was WAY better than ODST or Reach and probably on par with Halo 3

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

Yeah, the campaign for 4 was fantastic. Spartan Ops was fun as well. I didn't really have any issues with the MP.

Re: HALO: The Master Chief collection

I loved 1 and 2 and put hundreds of hours into 2's multiplayer, haven't finished 4 yet, maybe that's what I'll do over the next few weeks.
