I appreciate the free DLC but isn't this shit that could have already been included in the game? I thought the 15 pieces of DLC they touted would be of real substance: missions, activities, etc. and not a piece of armor or weapons.

Exactly. We did get one mission with the last one, but nothing major.

Exactly. But they need to build up this reputation as some super-cool company that gives out there DLC for free in this age of nickel and diming everyone with it.

I do appreciate the generosity but I couldn't even see myself spending 50 cents on most of this. There are those, however, that would and are all giggity for getting stuff for free that should be free or just part of the bought game. You buy the car and I will give you the DLC keys for free. Yay!!!! Don't buy GTA shark cards, FIFA or other sport game points or other DLC nonsense and hopefully, this shit will come to an end.

I would also say that for a game that supposedly has a ton of things to see, I often find myself running through forests and fields to come across similar looking villages with people or creatures running amok. I did find an abandoned tower and some place with a Wyvern that wanted to kick my ass.

I don't have a problem with getting something added to the game for free after it's already been out. If it'd been packed with the game and available with everything else, you might not have noticed it. Granted maybe it's not really worth noticing, and maybe they could've included it but decided to hold it back to win brownie points later. I dunno.

Yeah, I don't get the complaints. They're not charging us for it and it doesn't hurt the game in any way. If you don't like it, just ignore it.

So this is my first Witcher game so sorry if this is a newb question but as far as what you should sell and what you shouldn't, is there an easy guide or rule of thumb? Some things are labeled junk but can be broken down into gems or even into dust. Is there kind of a general reasoning as to if you should break down, or sell as a whole. I'm pretty early in the game so I just don't want to make a mistake with selling or breaking something down and then pulling my hair out later knowing I had it.

Well this is the first Witcher game for me as well, but i am going by the following:
1. If i find any armor or weapon and it has a green plus number indicating stronger level than my current equipment i immediately change it over and sell or break down the old item.
2. I break down most elements in the game unless they are Quest items (indicated in the Quest panel). I keep the odd thing like food items in case i need some energy and have run out of other ways to boost it during a fight.
3. I keep a close eye on the construction plans you gather. I have already managed to build some weapons and armor that need very high skill levels in order to use. Hanging onto them until i get that far.
I am currently level 22 and have gone off the main quest for a bit in order to deal with some of the Witcher quests and other tasks.
Still loving the game.

Thanks. Yeah as far as armor and weapons goes, I am doing the same. The only thing that gave me pause about this was reading something about how you shouldn't sell off your initial weapon/armor you started the game with as you would be able to upgrade it somehow early on that would make it more powerful than anything you would find that early in the game. I was just wondering if this was common or not for anything else.

I am level 19. This game is so amazing, but I do have a few problems with it.
I love that they did not try to scale enemies with you. You are rewarded as you level up and start to get the sense that you are getting more powerful. It is also a thrill getting into an area you should not be and getting out alive while grabbing some gear. I understand that it is hard to balance xp in a game like this, and they don't want you to over level, but once a mission becomes grey and I realize I am no longer going to get an xp reward for it, I find it hard to take the time to do them. I have a growing list of side quest and witcher contracts that I probably will not do.
The main story missions are not as impressive as the open world exploring and some side missions. Strange, but I find the main missions way too long. I also just love the witcher contracts for some reason, especially taking on ones that are higher level than me.
As for gear, the crazy amount you get combined with the small text makes it hard on my brain when going into my inventory.
As for gear, I am sticking with the feline set. The light armor bonus is nice, and the sword damage bonus from the set is amazing. I just worry about upgrading my gear every 4-5 levels by looking for the better feline plans.
Amazing game, and after the 1-2 punch that was Dying Light and Bloodborne, it is great that I am having so much fun. At this point though Bloodborne is still safe as game of the year.

Ugh. I'm going to have to restart. I realize I'm supposed to answer "Yes" instead of "No" to "simulate Witcher 2 save" in order to get to the part where I say who died/lived in Witcher 2. The menu option made it sound like choosing "no" would let you create your own save, not the other way around. Blurgh.

One thing i have done is ensure that i find the places of Power in order to get the immediate 1 Skill point they each provide. This helped quickly improve my fighting skills, armor and magic. Not used any so far for alchemy. Will leave that until last if i have enough experience points to accommodate.
I did read that it has a cap of Level 70. Is that correct? I hope that does not mean that i don't keep getting skill points to use after that level. Sure i will need way more than that and would prefer to have the chance to max all skills out. Didn't like it when they made it impossible to do so with Skyrim and hope its not the same here....but have a feeling it will be.
I agree that i love the fact that creatures do not level. It gives it much more of a sense of accomplishment. I still come across creatures that put up a good fight. Last night i ran across a werewolf next to a lake and i had not rested. Literally one hit took out the half energy bar i had and killed me. Its good to see the game can still offer challenges.

I am at level 24, have done probably 85% of the quests in the game. I don't think it's even possible to get more than say 35 on first play through.

mother fucker. another bug preventing me from progressing. reason of the slate quest. is optional, but once you trigger it, you have to do it. i'm at the end and something that is supposed to trigger won't. i keep trying previous game saves but it still won't allow me. grrrrrrrr
edit: going back further fixed it. what a fucking pain in the ass.

Just finished the game. I swear, at one point, you think it is over, and then it goes on for another 5 hours.
Overall, I'm happy with the game. Does some things right, such as fantastic story, great graphics, but does others wrong, such as terrible controls and some major glitch issues.
As for the ending:

No sooner have i posted about not really experiencing any glitches and another one appears. I was on the top of one of the snow capped mountains and was attempting to slide down to a castle below. I managed it successfully without any damage, but on reaching the roof of the castle after a few steps my character fell through the floor and continued falling through the building until eventually hitting a surface and dying. Not too far to go again from my last save, and have had this issue in other games before, so didn't bother me too much.

The 1.04 patch is out on the PS4, and the 1.05 patch is available for the PC. I'm assuming the Xbox One will follow very quickly:
