Instead of Gwent, they should have brought back the sex trading cards from the first game and made a minigame out of it. Those sex trading cards were hilarious. It was like Pokemon. Gotta catch 'em all.

I agree as Gwent is really a stupid game, in my opinion. There is really no strategy as you are just straight up guessing when to pass and end one game in hopes to win 2 out of 3.

Had something funny happen yesterday.

I came across a bandit camp and one of them had a shield. I was taking my time with him when he suddenly drops dead. Turns out he was killed by an arrow in the back from one of his buddies that was meant for me

Are you sure he didn't take an arrow to the knee?

Sorry, that does sound familiar now that you mention it.

Played a few hours last night. This is the first game that truly shows what this gens graphics are capable of imo. Just breathtaking views. Still trying to find some low level quests but most I've come across are a few levels above me (level 1)

Haven't played yet but I will say the collector's edition of this is very nice.

Word of advice. Go around, get all the postings on the boards in town, which give you question marks all over the map. Then, go explore those. They aren't really quests, but more of points of interest, but you will fight monsters/humans, which is easy way to get experience to build up your character. Also, do any of the secondary and witcher quests you can do. They give a ton of experience.

I have done a few of those but it seems like the monsters/humans don't give out XP when I kill them. I had read that only quests hands out XP?

Hmm. I thought they did. Maybe you are right. I never looked at my meter to see if it was going up.

Ran into my first major bug. I went to an area to explore. Found a monster nest. I got hit by something and it literally kicked me out the game. Like restarted the thing. Damn monster has some crazy powers!

I am seriously addicted now. Only level 7, but managed to get a good stack of cash, gotten half decent at agent and done quite a few quests. The quests and stories are really engaging which is holding my interest. I am also loving the fighting. Blood borne has been put on the back burner and I think Arlham Knight will get limited play for a while.

Also a cool thing; When you load up your game, there's a short recap of events so you don't forget what's happened in the main questline. I don't recall an RPG doing that.

You mean the same cutscene that I have seen probably five times already. It would be really cool if it were skippable.

Prepare to see it every time you go to another area via fast travel. But it's the one that relates to the area, so at least it's a tad different.

As for the killing gets you XP, I can confirm it does. I killed a bandit and I leveled up. It wasn't a quest either, just a random place of interest.

Gwent is a mixed bag. My strategy:

Don't have this huge deck of like 35+ cards. Stick with 22-25. Use your best cards. It's a better chance to get a good draw.

Don't blow your load right away with three top cards or whatnot. Let your opponent use his top cards first. If you go first, put down a 1 or 2. If he puts down a 5, put down a 3-4. Stay in range. If he suddenly doubles his points, you might want to pass. If he uses all his cards early, it's an easy win the next two games for you anyway.

Use the debuff cards. They work really well and can turn the tide. Never replace them when you redraw, you will need them.

the save system in this game needs serious work. autosave rarely saves and when you do actually do a save, it often puts you behind where you saved. annoying to have to play the same shit over and over when you keep dying.

Yeah really. I've died maybe ten times and six of those were me falling off cliffs trying not to die

Oh and speaking of falling off cliffs, a big to CDPR for including the Wilhem Scream for certain deaths.
