I wish they hadn't removed dice poker. I may be the only person that actually liked that minigame.

Yeah, I still don't get it. All I know is that it's giving me horrible flashbacks to that brief period in college when I played Magic: The Gathering.

I couldn't get into it on my first playthrough of The Witcher 2 but got totally hooked on my second playthough. I really miss it now.

Maybe dice poker will be one of the free DLC packs?

That's a good deal, kudos to them!

Re: The Witcher 3 - May 19, 2015 - PS4, XBO, PC

Has CD Projekt mentioned anything about remaking the first game? I know they had planned a console port many years ago, but it was canceled for whatever reason. Many people never played the first game since it was PC-only, and now that Witcher is a bigger name, it seems like a remake would sell well.

A remaster of the second game on the PS4 might be good too since it was never released on PS3.

They are currently busy with Cyberpunk 2077 (their answer to Mass Effect) so it would be a while before they even consider remaking The Witcher. I would love a remake of the 1st and second game done with the engine (and gameplay tweaks) of the third game.

I don't play RPGs but tried the sample of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Is this game comparable to that one?

Good. Hopefully that'll give the graphics a boost. Looks like Fable now.

Even I will admit the article made it seem far worse than how it truly is. In fact, it's a beautiful game to look upon.

the story in this game is fantastic, but can't there be like one fucking quest where you do it and it is over? everything is like, do this, ok, great, now go do this. oh wait, there's 19 more parts to complete it.

Re: The Witcher 3 - May 19, 2015 - PS4, XBO, PC

I just finished the Keira Metz quests. I decided to check online what others did
Spoiler:
since I wasn't sure if I did the right thing taking the notes from her. I had convinced her to go to Kaer Morhen and give me Alexander's notes (since I figured she'd be less likely to change her mind and go bargain with Radovid anyway). However, I was afraid she'd be later caught on the way and have no potential bargaining chip. Much to my surprise, what I instead discovered is that the conversation can go radically different with Geralt forced to fight and kill Keira.
I love the wild way these games branch like that.

Go to the Signs skill tree and place some ability points in Axii. So far it seems one point is enough but I'm sure that will change later in the game (when I'm sure we'll encounter characters with magical protection from mental spells).

The
Spoiler:
Sylvan
quest is pretty straightforward.
Spoiler:
He's pretending to be a god (the All God). You can either kill him, tell him to at least accept cheaper tributes, or tell the villagers to accept his demands.

As a special bonus, you can go for option B and then suggest the villagers check out this crypt where he's hiding. I can't wait to see what havock that will wreak later on.

If they make a Witcher 4 and assuming she survives, I would love for Ciri to be the protagonist. (Hell, I'm upset that Andrzej Sapkowski's follow up novel was a prequel rather than the beginning of a new series starring Ciri.)

Really loving this game.

By the way, if y'all want to take advantage of the DLC packs, it's not enough to just download them. You have to "purchase" (it's free) the Free DLC Program and then activate the individual DLC packages through the GOG Galaxy setup menu.

It's less effort than going out to a bar.

Re: The Witcher 3 - May 19, 2015 - PS4, XBO, PC

Played for a couple more hours last night. Damn this game is gorgeous to look at. I am loving the world, the buildings, the people and the creatures. Had to venture to the larger cities last night and it took my breath away. Not many games have as great a spectacle as this. Starting to enjoy the fighting more as well, not gotten back to Gwent yet...but will. Found a whore house and was tempted to pay for one, but the pull of the adventure was more appealing at the time.

Its funny, but each time i have bought a new game this year i have considered if Game of the Year contenders. Just one after another this year, and a few that promise real greatness still to come. This might very well be the best year for gaming i can ever recall, and i have been gaming since the 70s.

Does this game have an easy mode like the first one where you don't have to bother with magic.

Yes they have an easy mode. It's not too hard on normal.

Yes. They call it "Just The Story".

However, "Story and Sword" (the "Normal" mode) is actually much easier than the Normal mode of The Witcher 2. In fact, I saw a review that mentioned that. So you're better off picking a difficulty level one notch higher than you did the last game to get a similar challenge in The Witcher 3.

You can also change difficulty at any time (even in combat mid-battle)

That was a welcome feature in The Witcher 2. Haven't had a reason to check if they kept it this go around but glad to read they did.

I am sad they got rid of free storage at the inns but I suppose it'd make saddlebags superfluous.
