Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

Update:

Microsoft told Game Informer: "Halo 5: Guardians will require approximately 55GB of hard drive space for the complete game. Digital copies will include the full game (~55GB), and disc copies will require approximately a 9GB download for multiplayer map content."

Original Story:

Clear some more space off your hard drive. Halo 5: Guardians requires players to have up to 60 GB of storage space in order to play the game.

Thatís according to details on the Halo 5ís box. Some retailers are already breaking the street date and the retail packaging suggests having "up to" 60GB free. This is more than the 46.19 GB file size listed on the Microsoft Store, so perhaps thereís a contingency for a day one patch? Or maybe they're just giving themselves a bit of breathing room.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

The campaign already preloaded on my Xbox One. It takes up 46.2GB. I assume the 15GB multiplayer maps will preload closer to launch similar to the MCC.

You May Have Pre-Downloaded the Wrong Version of Halo 5: Guardians

343 Industries is warning that a small number of users may have downloaded the wrong version of Halo 5: Guardians.

Speaking on Halo Waypoint, the developer said that it’s possible that some of those who pre-ordered and pre-downloaded the game digitally may just have a placeholder file on their hard disc drives and not the actual game.

“If you’ve digitally pre-ordered Halo 5: Guardians on your Xbox One before September 21 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect ‘stub file’ for the title, which is simply a placeholder file,” explained 343i. “Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title.”

“If you’ve pre-ordered on or after September 21, you should be ready to download the necessary updates as they become available. Once these updates have been installed, you’ll then be able to play Halo 5: Guardians.”

Here’s the guide 343i provided.

Go to My games & apps

Sort your game collection by selecting Installed ŗ Sort by size

If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is greater than 40 GB, you’ve got the correct version, and you’re ready to download the necessary updates when they become available.

If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is less than 40 GB, you’ve got an incorrect stub file, and will need to delete that version and reinstall the game.

It looks like reviews are allowed to be posted after midnight on Sunday night/ Monday morning. I'm really curious to see the critical/ public reception for this game. We're two years into this generation, and it feels like this is the first truly major (mainstream) console exclusive for PS4 or Xbox One.

From the videos I seen of people streaming the multi-player on Twitch, the graphics do not look a major improvement over the MCC enhanced edition of Halo 4.

They "enhanced " Halo 4 for the MCC?

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

I think the HD assets are the same but the Xbox 1 up scales them. Should look a little better than the 360 version. It wasn't a conversion like Halo 1 and 2.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

reviews seem solid so far (87 meta average last I checked)..

I have never been into the Halo MP....so for me it is the single player I am excited for, and with Black Ops, Fallout and Tomb Raider all so close together this will have to wait for a price drop. Never thought I would say that about a new Halo game.

If anyone is going to the Best Buy midnight release, you might want to try and go a little early to snag the art book they are giving away. Amazon is currently selling it for $28, so it should be a pretty nice book

I feel like having a 9gb download and prolonged installation sort of kills the point of a midnight launch.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

The reviews make it sound like the campaign kind of sucks or at least unfulfilling, but the multiplayer is excellent. Never been a big Halo guy, and still need to go back and play the Master Chief Collection so I guess I can wait and get this later on.

At 85 right now - http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-...lo-5-guardians

Looks like the campaign is roughly 5 to 6 hours.

Just like most FPS campaigns, I'm sure this one will be just fine for what it is. Warzone sounds really, really good. I didn't realize it was a 12 vs AI mode. Looks like a huge step up from Firefight.

I'm seeing 9 - 11 hours. You could probably blow though it in 6 - 8 if you played on easy.

Personally, I think that's perfect. Maybe three sessions and then onto multiplayer.

The campaign just looks recycled. This franchise is bordering on MP only at this point.

That does sound like fun. I'm not buying any Req microtransaction stuff though.

IGN said 7 hours

Not really, no since Destiny was always an online only multiplayer game. Different things to me.

It's online, but Destiny certainly does have a single-player campaign.

Re: Halo 5: Guardians (XB1, Fall 2015)

it's Halo...the series has never been known for lengthy campaigns. me, i like the brevity. and normal hours of playtime is like double, maybe triple for me. i like to take my time and savor good ones as well...
